New Wave was not really a single type of music. That is why the artists labelled as New Wave caters to a very broad audience and different musical styles, such as punk rock, ska, reggae, industrial, goth, synthpop, and even experimental. Bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Police, Men At Work, Joy Division, The Cure, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Culture Club, and Flock of Seagulls have very different sounds, but in one way or another are all considered New Wave.
