The answer is quite simple: the cost of training, logistics, equipment, transporation, accomodation, food, allowance and other expenses for this type of sport is simply too expensive vis a vis the meager budget of our Sports agencies. Dili man pud pwede na muhatag ang gobyerno an amount exceeding the appropriated budget and at the expense of other sports-related projects. Participating in international sports event does not come cheap. If you can remember during the heydays of philippine equestrian led by the leviste's and cojuangco's, their own PERSONAL budget and expenses for an event like the SEA Games the said amount is equivalent to almost one-third 1/3 of the PSC's entire budget for all the filipino delegates in that event.

Another point to know is that the "desperate act" of mortgaging their house does not always mean heroism for the country. I'm sure mas matimbang ang personal fulfillment and the consequential patriotic act is just secondary. Regardless of the outcome, win or lose, the mere fact he was able to qualify and join the olympics is already a feat in itself. That alone is already a guarantee this guy and his family will never hold grudge and bitterness against the govt.. Besides, they are into sports and being a sour loser will be the last thing in their minds.

Proud and happy for our Filipino Representative. Amazed by his dedication! Kudos to his mother too for the support.

However, the rest of this news makes my blood boil. Lami kaayo gyud ni SUNUGON atong mga politico and government officials na BASURA. I hope the boy wins and once he does, pakauwawan unta niya atong gobyerno especially our president.
