please correct me if i'm wrong, but one thing i observed about rallies is organizers are usually positioned as frontliners during such acitivities.. and no, the last time i watched the news, i saw party list represensative and known activist during the marcos regime, Satur Ocampo being held down too..

and presumably and with the inherent mandate of state, law enforcers knew very well how to deal situations like these, morever, i think there's always a debriefing sessions being conducted by superiors beforehand.. i seriously doubt they're being instructed to beat the hell out of these people..Â*

granting your statement is true, then i must say they did a splendid drama, with all those bloody make-over on the faces on those whacked by officers.. and policemen are great with their roles.. lupig pa WWF makabunal, as if they were left with no other choice..

I was in Manila last month and was able to witnessed that very big rally in EDSA starring SUSAN ROCES... The hotel where I was staying was just in EDSA.... And you know what I saw?? Most of them especially those who were shouting and carrying banners came from the squatter areas --- and they all looked so innocent... Klaro kaayo nga they "don't have" any idea what they really are doing... It seems as if they "received something" in return just to attend the rally...

Bago sila mo apil ug prohibited rallies....they know already the consequences...mao bitaw nang mga organizers nga nagpa daplin na daan....suma ra pod bitaw kung kinsa tong nabunalan ang mga wa man ilhi nga mga tawo na kasagaran tambay ra pod sa BASECO.

Onya reklamo dayon ug human rights violation, non-democracy ang mga organizers.......eehhhh ang mga looy nga nagtrabaho? nga naabala, ala bay karapatan magreklamo(trapic, wala nay sakyanan, kalat diri-kalat-didto)..? looy ang mga estudyante diha kay university built mana......mao nay tagaan pod unta ninyo ug considerasyon.

Artists’ groups have joined together to defend freedom of _expression in the tradition of their icons Amado V. Hernandez and Lino Brocka.

Calling themselves "Arrest Gloria" (Artists for the Removal of Gloria), they expressed support for the "Walk for Democracy" by civil libertarians and other human rights defenders yesterday, which as expected was again forcibly dispersed by the police under Arroyo’s "calibrated pre-emptive response."

They compared CPR to Marcos’ Batas Pambansa Blg. 880 , "a measure enacted during the days of dictatorship."

"Arrest Gloria" said E.O. 464 "effectively bars the few principled or conscienticized among our public officers from divulging information on government activities that may be detrimental to the national interest."

"To top off all of these, Arroyo is pushing for an anti-terrorism bill which, by the broadness of its definition of ‘terrorism,’ could be construed to include even legal protest actions in its list of ‘terroristic activities’ and makes people legally liable for simply being neighbors to suspected ‘terrorists.’"

I just liek the images of those police beating up protesters. It will surely gain sympathy for teh protesters and minus points to the fascist Arroyo government.
