^ pwede ra gyud if limited ang budget even on a new build... mao gyud na akoang himoon pud if ako ni sya ang nag build ron at a tight bugdet... but ang savings, dili nko ipalit ug SSD but puno sa GPU... again, depende sa budget and intended apps sa rig... kun ganahan ta'g mopalit ug "on date" HW, pwede ra gyud kaayo...

mao gani ni akoang gi himo ug hangtud karon, i3-2120 ra akoang GPU on a Fatality Z77 Pro on GTX 670 SLI... pwerte ra gyud ka kaayo sa I3 ni na set-up for a gaming rig. i'm into the actual gaming performance and not on FPS during benchmark... i can buy the "K" i7 any time pero, wla ra ko mo palit... huwat ra ko mo barato ni sya kay ang performance difference on the games that I played (puro GPU hogs) does not justify the current cost of the "K" CPUs... naa ko gi butang na "buy price" sa aning "K"... if maabot na ni na price point, mao ni na time na i can't say no na siguro... hehehe... for now, i have no plans yet to join the Haswell bandwagon kay naa man ning HW pa nako...

ah, ka taas aning akoang gi yaw2x oi... hehehehe...

in short, para dili na mag wonder si TS, go Haswell (if mag intel's route) for the new build... pero, kun kamao lang gyud mo puga sa budget, pwede ra gyud kaayo for the alternatives... those HW still packs a big punch... but mag sakit ang dughan kun mag basa ug mga benchmark diri sa net... in real world apps, negligible ra man pud... basta, dili lang mo abot ug 10 mins or more ang processing time difference sa actual na gi gamit na apps... hehehe...

    what savings? half-price?

^ very minimal... mga 2K to 3K php for the CPU and mobo (depende unsa model and brand na pili-on)... kaning price difference dako na ni baya para sa uban... pwede kaayo ni pang puno para GTX 760 (for video editing apps and gaming)... or para pang palit ug 120~128 GB SSD... or even 60~ 64 GB SSD for OS only or for a scratch pad to speed up Adobe Suite...

2-3k dha china? cause diri pinas difference is around below 1k. And kana depende sa model. Ang i5 4670k vs i5 3570k 400 pesos ra difference. And the board naa na kay mapalit below 5k.

yup, 2 to 3K ang price difference nila diri sa Shanghai... wla pa gyud mo ubos ang IBs... kun 1K amd below lang gani ang price difference between the 2, CPU and mobo, aw, dili na sya huna2x-on... go Haswell...

yup mas barato diri though dili pa jud srp price, I think the price difference is insignificant. Ivy is coming to it's end. Much wiser to invest on a newer socket.

IB will still last until Broadwell comes... for sure, SB/IB will still last for the coming 2 yrs... for the next Haswell CPUs, basin dako ang performance difference nila from SB/IV, basin worth ang performance jump... for an upgrade path, LGA1150 is the way to go...

gaming wise, ang trend ron kay GPU hogs naman, mao gyud ni ang focus sa mga enthusiast... kun ma puga pa ug OC ang last gen CPUs, pwede pa... bisan ganin SB/IB i3, packs a big punch pa man gani ron for the heavy games... kumbate pa sya bisan paresan ug powerful GPU... less the values during bench marking lan ha... if dili na, aw, time to embrace the upper siblings or the current socket...

mas kalmado man pud ta on new socket... better on the new build if cost wise, insignificant compared to the last tech (LGA1155 in particular)... like dha ron sa Pinas... pero, diri, mas bang for the money ra gihapon tong akoang gi mention na options... mag sakit lang gyud for sure ang heart kun mag ubos na pud ang prices... mo kalit lang ra ba ni'g pang ubos pud ang prices diri... pwede gani in a day... tsk tsk tsk...

Not talking about processor but the socket. Like an i7 960 can still pack a punch but its socket is dead in the water.

but ts wants a video editing build hehe nagkataas2 ang page and we are shifting away from topic

with all due respect but ts is living in the philippines so it's just right to base your opinion on current philippine pricing

mao, na OT na kay nag kalami ug istorya... hehehe...

for the socket, "upgradability" ang issue ani... performance wise, if acceptable pa ang performance nya in real apps, ok ra ni. ang bench mark ra gyud ug mga discussion na usually, mga "Nice to Have" ang maka pa trigger for the upgrade...

basta, for video editing, any quad core from the Big Blue or the 6 or 8 cores from the Big Red, kumbate... then sa GPU, mag depende na sa software na gamiton... if mo support ug CUDA, Nvidia is the way to go. if mo support ug Stream, AMD is the way to go... puro naman daghan ug cores ning mga offerings sa both companies so, pas2x ang pag edit sa video kun supported lang...

yup, naa man sa Pinas, dha gyud ang basis for the purchase...

sakto gyud ka Sir lloyd_joy , ma strech ra gyud na ang budget with kugi ug ukay sa BnS

i actually build one at same price last 2months ago for my client

i go intel bundle from GIC

    that's with i5 3570 non K + Asus B75 + 4GB x 2 Value RAM + 1TB WD BLUE + tin Casing and Generic PSU + KB and mouse at PhP18

    i just add :

    Segotep Casing from Sorry18 @ 1.8K

    600W SS PSU Bronze 80+ @ 5K

    500GB HDD BLUE @ 1.5K from a fellow storyan

    2GB GT640 @ 3.5K from fellow istoryan

    120mm FANS from ACROSS

naa pa extra : trendsonic Casing\ PSU

mas barato pa gyud unta to sa QubePC

tag PhP1400 ra ang 8GB na Patriot RAM < di lang sila baligya per item >

hutdan lang sila ug Procie ato nga time.

PURPOSE of the Build : Adobe Creative Suite 5 | AutoCad 2013 x64 | AutoDesk Max Creative Suite

    performance : very satisfactory!
