You're NOT ignorant. In fact you're being conscious. This is the temporal relationship from scene to scene. Sometimes, telling a story chronologically can bog things down and when you're dealing with exposition it's all right to go backwards and forwards so long as the pacing will benefit. He also tries to setup the "film noir" texture of the story and juxtapouses his traumatized childhood with his training. Meaning, it isn't entirely a "samurai" movie set in the hills.

And if he did it chronologically that might just be an inappropriate rhythm and if this movie got one yawn during Bruce's training, that won't be a good sign.

Basically the writer is asking for your patience, hence the title they've gotta nail how Batman came to be somehow. I like this style too. For a more mindboggling experience check out MEMENTO also by Christopher Nolan... or the very hard to follow 21 GRAMS
    i agree.

this will help you determine sa mga nakasabot sa story and those whose reactions varies only from "wow this is a good action film!" and the unpretentious: "wow!"...

Yup, Cillian Murphy's versatility as an actor is evident. Who would have thought the guy who played Jim in 28 DAYS LATER was able to pull off such a smug, antagonistic role?

Gary Oldman's versatility surfaces cos BUOTAN man siya. awww, buotan mampud siya harry potter but kulukoy gihapon. but here we get to see him play a good cop with a vulnerable side. compare this Gary Oldman to the Gary Oldman in AIR FORCE ONE. are they the same person?

I'd like to see Gary Oldman do more 'good guy' roles. At least staring as Gordon in this new Batman series will give him more 'good guy' time.

Mark Hammill as the Joker is a good choice. Or Jim Carrey can do it (although he really looked silly as the Riddler).

The new Batmobile is da shiznit! I know daghan kaayo ang di kau ganahan sa design niya pero think about it: why in the world would Batman be driving around in a decked-out convertible? To look cool? Or would he rather be in a military-type vehicle, packed with enough technology and brawn to prowl the mean streets of Gotham, ridding it of criminals? Mas practical and realistic ang Batmobile ron. It's actually refreshing to see na its something that could actually exist in the real world. OA ra kau ang daan na Batmobiles. :P

This is what's great about this movie. It's got this verisimilitude to it.

    yes!!

Mr Nolan did justice to the Batman/Bruce psyche. Just listen to the conversation at the end where Katie talks to Bruce about the mask he wears...

The first 2 films by Tim Burton were these stylish, atmospheric production masterpieces. Burton had the Batman feel down pat with his two contributions, but they were ultimately hollow and unimaginative story-wise. The last 2 Batman films by Joel Schumacher were just plain merchandise vehicles. And here comes Mr Nolan's which works on both a fantasy/comic level, as well as a rational, "realistic" level. It just measures up to the mythology of the comic of which it was based.
