Guys, defragmenting in normal mode will not harm your hardrive. As every experts says, it will make your hardrive perform better. You don't need to go to safe mode to defrag. Defrag is arranging of file in such a way that fragmented file will be arrange in one location. I am not sure where you got the misinformation about defragmentation, but I am sure it will make your computer to perform better than not having run defraging tool. For starter, I will recommend using diskeeper since it is more like the ms defrag. Even if you have a raptor drive, it is still recommended to run defrag. If there is some misfortunate drive, it is not because of defrag, it just so happen that drive is broken or degrading till it is broken.

    peace
