but still the price and performance of amd combined together still beats Intel.

wala lang gyud ko kasabot sa numbering system sa AMD... can anyone orient me with their numbering system sa ilahang processors?

i have read a long time ago from a review someone from amd when asked why are they numbering their cpu like that and he said that if it says that its athlon xp 1800+ it means that it can be compared to an intel P4 1.8ghz though the athlons speed is only at 1.4 or something like that.

and those 1.8g or 2g are the clock speeds or the cpu. adn someone said that clock speed alone does not directly correspond to performance.

sorry but i cant really offer the best explanation, i have read the explanation about this question a long time ago, when amd first started using their "numbering system" and that i think 2 years ago or so.

your very right bro.... its not clockspeed, its data throughput that makes it faster.

intel can only manage at 5bits per cycle while amd's goes for 9... multiply that with its clock..... now what's the faster speed....
