Latest development is that the UAAP board has upheld the new residency rule, meaning we won't be seeing Pingoy on the basketball court for 2 UAAP seasons.

Until we have more facts, my own opinion (from the information gathered in media reports) is that Pingoy should have just stayed in FEU. Obviously, Mark Molina and Anton Montinola got him to play for FEU-FERN with the intent to eventually promote him to the Seniors ranks when he graduates from High School. Siguro kung pwede siya mu-duwa sa Seniors bisag wa pa ni-graduate sa HS ila na unta na gi-buhat. FEU gyud ang naka-una ug recruit, period.

I believe the statements that the decision to switch schools didn't involve money or other benefits. I also understand that the opportunity for a student-athlete to study in Ateneo should be taken with serious consideration. Wealthy parents would even pay top money to whoever just so their kid who didn't pass the ACET would be taken in. But kung gi-recruit na ka ug lain nya mu-balhin ka after humot na kaayo ka, that's a different story. Unless it was clear from the start that FEU only intended to recruit Pingoy for their High School squad and that Pingoy had the option to transfer schools entering his college years, that is my stand about this issue.
