There is no scientific answer as to the real fact if you can still think when you are dead. On the first place, who can inform someone that he can think when he is dead where in fact he is not there?

Only traditional experience and religion can answer that, which I believe many will not believe. Science are not the only facts in the world.

A dead person can still think--not within the dead body but within his soul.

One friend of mind has experienced being whispered by the soul of his dead friend who has just died. His dead friend said to my friend, "Ayawg undang ha. Bisag patay na ko pero nagpabilin gihapon akong espiritu". Science could not explain that experience.

Unexplainable stories of dead souls appearing before someone through vision, hearing, or feeling, have no scientific evidence but only experience.

I guess people will believe when they have experience them personally.

There is a scientific answer. Simply look at it in a biological perspective. Our organs no longer function after that last breath, the brain is dead. There is no oxygen to support its function. So how can a brain, with its mechanisms no longer at work, able to think when it's dead?

If you go the religion route, of course, you will say there is life beyond this material world. But there is no reason to believe this, because as you said, who can inform someone that he can think when he is dead where in fact he is not there.
