so far wala pa na finalize ang deal sa SAA/LIFT so the T-50 deal is not yet finalize but it is said to be a strong contender, mao ni nakadaot sa MEEJA pataka lang ug balita... nga wala pamay contract na pirmahan... normally this type of deal is G2G...

my vote is with T-50 if we are to go for F16... T-50 has some similarities since the conception of the design of T-50 are based from F16

Navy eyes purchase of 3 'marinized' helicopters

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Navy said it was planning to purchase three "marinized" naval helicopters to complement its available warships.

No definite date has been set, but Navy chief Vice Admiral Alexander Pama told reporters Friday the plan is to buy these using funds generated from the Energy department's Malampaya project.

Pama, in an interview with reporters at the Air Power Symposium in Pasay City, said the three will eventually be attached to the Hamilton-class cutters purchased from the United States. The Philippines currently has one warship in its possession, the BRP Gregorio del Pilar. Another warship, the BRP Ramon Alcaraz, is expected to arrive in the country later this year.

The Philippines is also planning to purchase a third warship.

"Our budget is set for three [helicopters] since domain awareness calls for helicopters on board; that’s why in our program there are three helicopters [for] three Hamilton Class [ships]. One is to one," Pama explained.

At the moment, officials are busy preparing for the arrival of the second warship, BRP Alcaraz. A 90-man crew from the Navy has been in Charleston, South Carolina since April for training and repairing of the ship.

dugay ra nang T/A-50 so why test flight, if you mean training apil na sa ILS o Integrated Logistics Support... usually DND/AFP acquire in package with ILS...

Nice to know naa sad upgrades ang atong armed forces dah. Dili lang sad unta kuhaan ang budget sa uban natong kailangan like education and health kay nakuhaan baya ang budget sa education nato. anyways this is a big step sa atong armed forces not settling for "gifts" from the US nga i-strip off ra diay sa tanan mga equipment before i padala sa ato.
