Two of my computers here at work are running linux. We use ubuntu to record our radio program for our charismatic community in a laptop, We use a linksys wireless access point, the OS of that is linux based... Linksys and edimax routers are run in linux... so it should be quite good enough and stable too!Originally Posted by edshark

alinux has a very user-friendly interface murag XP but installation-wise, it is not that user-friendly,IMHO.
in what way do you think nga mas nindut pa sa ubuntu bai?siguro wla lang ko ka-notice kung naa..
You guys should definitely try slax.. I can be installed on a mini-cd and bootable pa cya, It uses your RAM to install the files; it's good alternative to back-up files in the event that you windows breaks down

While I agree that the aLinux install is confusing (especially 12.5!), once installed, most multimedia things work out of the box. It can read mp3s, dvds, wmvs, quicktime and most video and audio formats without you looking for it (ubuntu doesn't support mp3s out of the box for that matter and even dvds - I had to replace totem-xine with totem-mplayer and you can't do that unless you enable universe and download some other stuff), and has netmeeting, gaim-vv and gyach-e and other webcam apps installed, almost practically ready to use.
And it's the only distro that can properly detect some of my computer systems like soundcards and some videocard installations, which ubuntu doesn't unfortunately (I like ubuntu though, I use it for laptops).
Don't worry about the install though, some guys are working on it... a gui install is in the process in the not so far future, but I guess 12.6 will have an improved dialog based installer (I know it's better- basing it on what I heard so far, hopefully it will be finished by the time 12.6 comes out)
For a hint on the 12.5 install, please see http://flightsimhq.org/peanut/phpBB2...pic.php?t=2250
God bless.
