having a dog is not a joke...if you're not ready to spend and own a dog with "breed", then you should also be responsible enough to feed it with good quality food.....

I second the motion jud..It's not how cute the dog is,Having a dog is like having a child.
Mas ok pa gani ang taw kay pag abot og 2 or 3 makastorya nag tarong, magkasinabot namo..But ang dog man gud they don't speak and most of the time, whatever they are feeling, they keep it to themselves as if everything is okay just realizing tomorrow the cute lil pup just won't wake up.

    OT:
My uncle's Neopolitan Mastiff died of cancer and Maximum never showed any signs of suffering untill he drops and could not walk or stand.Vet said it's malignant and the Dog amazingly manage to keep the illness to himself. My uncle's 56 years old and he is suffering his knees and went for major operation and Max went him through and helped him walk everday. He couldn't think of any day that Max complained or whined for pain.My uncle cried when Maximum died, the atmosphere or guilt is there,he just waited patiently untill my Uncle's full recovery before he pass.He is amazing.. Very Big Dog with a very Big heart....

Personally I haven't seen Maximum, only in pictures. But for sure,he positively contributes reason for me to continue loving and caring for my Dogs.

Hi Minyang! don't lose hope... because the liver is capable of regenerating itself!

Is this the Royal Canin that you're feeding your lab now? I really hope he recovers.

Don't say good bye to Cooper yet, because he is still alive. Continue his medications and read, read, read more info about Canine Liver Disease. Sakto na imuhang gibuhat that Cooper is there with you since your sister's house is being painted. Toxic pud kaayo na ang fumes sa paint.

What I'd like to say here is, its not just what we feed our dogs. The environment also poses a lot of danger. The air they breath and what we put on our dog's skin. I have known a couple of dog owners who's pets have died because of liver failure tungod sa strength sa skin medications and flea/mange treatments.

When dogs are given antibiotics, importante kaayo na ang Jetapar to counter-balance the effect on the liver. I also give yogurt, not only for their digestive system but also to bring back the balance of the "good" bacteria since antiobiotics kills all the bacteria, good and bad.

For the other readers, prevention is the key.

Bad for dogs gyud na ang human food especially if its salty. Canned/processed foods is also not good for them since they contain nitrates and preservatives. Refrain from giving dogs the fat of the meat. If you really give human/table food, don't feed them too much pork.

I have always been a firm believer in holistic approach and prevention of diseases. Aside from feeding our pets quality dog food.... also take the time to make homemade /fresh treats that are healthy for them- such as giving them veggies (except tomato, onions), fruits (except grapes). I also give them yogurt (good for digestion) and apple cider vinegar in their drinking water (anti-oxidant). I also don't over vaccinate because too much is bad for our dogs.

o0ella0o, thanks for sharing the story of your Uncle's dog. Grabe ka touching especially the dog being "strong" and being there for your uncle until he made his full recovery.

    Red face Milk Thistle

    Minyang,

I read a couple of sites about Canine Kidney Disease and found one common thing that is beneficial to liver problems--- it's Milk Thistle. Check here---> Google

You may want to try it. Research well na lang so you can see the recommended dosage. So far, I have not seen any negative thing about Milk Thistle for dog/cat/horse etc liver problems. Puro positive and recommended. There are no side effects and it is safe for long-term use whether your dog is sick or not.

I checked the site of Healthy Options --> Healthy Options - 10 years of Pure and Natural Living and they carry the product. Try kuno to check their branches in SM or Ayala

Naay Milk Thistle specially made for dogs---> Dog Liver Disease Treatment - Milk Thistle for Dog Liver Problems but I don't know where to source this here in the Philippines.
