magnets! hmmmnnn what if it is mixed up with some electrical energy? surely there would be a reaction... don't wanna try it though>< almost set my room on fire 3 yrs ago coz of that

but i think it would still be hard to put together a sword after its been released... like if they've been attracted to the magnet they might form a ball or something else instead of a sword XD...

Cosplay just said that blades coming back at will and reforming themselves as a solid blade again would be nearly impossible. Any suggestions?

NAEJTIM's right. Right now, we are even having several proposals as to how to make the blades come back at will. Currently though, proposals are yet to be considered as to the lack of materials and practicality of using such methods. The suggestions coming up in our group lately required high maintenance and hard work on cleaning up. We are still hoping if someone could suggest a better idea other than magnets, coz there are specific properties of magnets that just couldn't be altered, like its state of magnetism. Its quite impractical to use high voltage electricity as it poses danger to the life of the cosplayers as well as people in the norm, so we don't wanna use high-powered magnets. However, regarding float and levitation priciples, you may wanna check this link and see if you could be able to think of a better way to apply it. We are also looking forward to this possibility.

    Have fun.

none ATM... it would require experiments... if it's magnetism... we would need to find a way wherein the magnetic field will be transfered to the tip of the sword(and I mean only the tip)... and if that's accomplished... we still have to make sure that it attracts the pieces one at a time for it to stay organized and reform the sword... that's... dunno I guess I'll try with some magnets here XD

lol this topic's really stirred up my desire for experiments...
got some topics to restudy now... iron filings maybe... seeing how they formed the exact shape of the magnet that attracted them...
or maybe I'll go over the Bermuda triangle phenomenon... remember how strange events occurred because of its magnetic field?

... the danger part is TOO right lol XD...

as for the levitation... that would be useful in scattering the pieces and keeping it airborne... but if they're metallic pieces... it will be a really scary byakuya sword waaaaa gotta run!

Regarding your iron fillings, you could try studying how Rangiku Matsumoto's sword growls to Haineko, then propose us your ideas. Its a good thing that you were able to start this VERY interesting thread, Cosplay. Its really beginning to start a good spark in my head. Turns my head wild NOW.....

We will describe the effects in steps that we have theorized so far:

    1. Byakuya cosplayer raises sealed state senbonzakura cosplay sword, just about to release it.

    2. Ordinary senbonzakura sword then turns to bright pink, as Byakuya cosplayer says the first word, "chire" meaning "scatter" (in "chire, senbonzakura")

    3. At the call of the second word, which is "senbonzakura", the cosplay sword unseals and the tip slowly detaches and scatters into a few pink pieces of lightweight pink material made of either cardboard, paper, aluminum foil, etc.

    4. The detaching and scattering process continues until it reaches the tip of the handguard.

    5. What's left of the cosplayer's sword is the handguard and the handle where the handguard is attached to.

We're still at the stage of trying to complete this effect to create a real cosplay event. However, as you can see, there seems to be a BIG problem on how to make the blades come back at will to reform all pieces back as one blade and return to sealed state again. Also, we are having difficulty looking for a place that sells the forbidden chemicals that we desperately need, nitric acid and sulfuric acid. The chemical factory YANA Chemodities (located near makro at the far back of SM), which sells different chemicals including those that we have mentioned, wouldn't release products from their premises if it is not intended for school usage (experiments) or other chemical industries. We have been doing all the necessary efforts to convince them yet no luck. The Bureau of Customs have been very strict lately that they wouldn't allow entry for items containing harmful chemicals, which are to be shipped from other countries, including internet. For everyone's sake, nitric acid and sulfuric acid are vital substances for the change of colors to happen(i.e., silver to pink, vice versa). We're still yet to reveal the method of using both. We're currently working on this issue but we sure hope that you guys be able to suggest more and keep being inspired.

    Thanks.

I hate being inferior when it comes to educational attainment...><

those chemicals would be quite easy if you're willing to take it illegally... a former classmate of mine brought sulfuric acid to school once... curiosity got me and gave me burnt skin XD

... must the process take effect through ORAL commands?... I mean... why not use some "magician tricks"?

Its not commanding... merely following how the anime goes... Byakuya is used to saying it in a very very deep voice. With or without commands, as long as the cosplayer is present, we could pull the trick. Only it would be nicer to follow anime accurately. Cosplay is about mimicry, the more accurate, the better.

Anyways, how much is the sulfuric acid? Is she selling it? How about nitric?
