Ang purpose sa CS-3 kay iyang i-compress ang imong signal. Meaning, low sounds (volume) would be slightly increased, while loud sounds over a certain level would be decreased. Para even and balanced paminawon ang sounds. It also makes your notes sustain a little more, so that smooth siya. Murag mo-blend ang mga notes. Di gyud nako ma-explain, actually. I'm a fan of compression especially with a lot of distortion. Makes playing melody parts easier. The CS-3 also thickens up your sound so your distortion tone sounds heavier.

I forgot to mention that a compressor works wonders for an acoustic with a built-in transducer or pickup.
