The CVOs in the area are more loyal and much under the control of their coresponding local officials gov, municipal mayors,.etc in the which bloodlines and local datus local culture have important roles and have their own armed followers the CVOs title just makes them legal even without the military hardware support in the area this datus have there own firearms the more guns the more powerful you are the GOvs. clan for example is rumored it could mustered up to 4 thousand rifles and thousand of loyal followers usually within bloodlines if provoked others small time datus or politicos can musterd 100 to 1000th..

the MILf got the tatse of their own medicine, fighting and messing with the locals is much difficult than fighting the the AFP in the area , as the two are free to do anything from using assasins, to burning houses, atrocities..etc are all but normal...in the case if they fight the AFP the AFP is bound to follow the geneva conventions unlike the MILF who dont even take prisoners of war

I agree! I still vividly remember my relatives in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte took them as hostages by MILF. And heck, hostaging civilians are against the 4th Geneva Convention!

i don't think a peace talk nor a total war campaign against NPA would finally put an end to the communist insurgency.... not unless the corruption in our country will be eliminated if not lessen and also to finally find a solution to our decades old poverty stricken country...

    unta tinud on nila..

I think the strategy of the AFP is to talk with the communities and discuss with them that it is important and it would be beneficial for them if they will cooperate with the AFP. It is the primordial duty of the AFP to protect the people and the State from its enemies, anyway.

Peace and order should be kept in place while insurgency threats should end.

I think the government should focus on all out war against poverty. This is afterall the reason why people go to the boondocks and join the NPA.

^No offense meant but an all out war against poverty very much sounds like Erap days. He had promised such but this was never pursued.

The government intends and presently pursuing pro-poor programs so as to alleviate and eventually eradicate poverty. This is not an easy task. As for those people who joined the rebels because of poverty, I don't think they have chosen the right path. After all, rebellion cannot be a way to eradicate poverty.
