Who said that there wasn't time? For Ronaldo three minutes were enough to come up with a penalty. And Zidane finished off the story by hitting the back of Asier Riesgo´s net. Luxemburgo started his career as Real Madrid coach with style, knocking down Real Sociedad in six minutes. It was the continuation of the game which was suspended on the 12 of December due to a bomb threat. The Three Kings brought forward the time of their gift giving for 2005, a new year, a new life!
It was Luxemburgo´s baptism on the bench of Real Madrid. A strange debut, or at least unusual: with just six minutes in front of them to look for treasure in the form of points. It was the continuation of a game (15th day) on which a bomb threat (12th of December) caused a postponement after 88 minutes of play.
Figo was the only obligatory absence in the ranks of Madrid, while Alkiza and Prieto were also absent from San Sebastian. The reason: the three were substituted by their coaches on the day when the match was played. Luxemburgo bet on a Ronaldo-Raúl-Morientes trio. A textbook move: Zidane was using his head well and in six minutes the central players were one of the main weapons, even more so when Beckham was at the side.

finally lady luck smiled on Madrid.....Real had Brazilian striker Ronaldo and goalkeeper Iker Casillas to thank for their flattering victory over Atletico.
The former World Player of the Year grabbed a coolly taken double with his only two chances while Casillas produced a brilliant rearguard action to keep a dominant Atletico at bay.
The victory ended Atletico's unbeaten home record this season, and former player Santiago Solari compounded their misery by notching Real's second goal in another isolated attack.
Roared on by a capacity 54,000 crowd, Atletico subjected Real to a storm of pressure in the opening minutes at the Calderon.
Although they were given a few scares Real managed to hold firm and responded with a goal in their one and only attack of the first half.
Full back Roberto Carlos charged down the left flank and clipped the ball back across the area to the waiting Zinedine Zidane.
The Frenchman miscued an attempted shot but the ball fell to Ronaldo who had time to pick his spot and fire into the top corner in the 14th minute.
It was Atletico who continued to dominate, however, and they laid siege to the Real area in the final 15 minutes of the half.
Casillas, however, produced a string of brilliant last-ditch saves to deny Torres and strike partner Salva Ballesta.
It was the same story in the second half as Atletico peppered the Real goal and Casillas continued his goalkeeping masterclass to frustrate the home side.
Real still managed to stretch their lead when Solari latched on to a sharp through pass from Raul to round keeper Leo Franco and guide the ball into the empty net nine minutes from time.
Ronaldo made it three goals from three chances for Real when he produced another classy finish by drilling a low shot under Franco from the edge of the area after a great pass from Zidane.

Morientes signs for Liverpool.......MADRID (AFP) - Real Madrid said that Spanish international forward Fernando Morientes has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half year contract with English Premiership giants Liverpool.

The 28-year-old Morientes, who was to travel later in the day to have a medical in Liverpool, has been out in the cold this season and spent last season on loan at Monaco, whom he helped to reach the Champions League final.

The striker was later due to give a news conference confirming a move which will see him link up with Liverpool's Spanish coach Rafael Benitez in a nine-million-euro (6.3 million pound) move.

The arrival of England star Michael Owen, ironically from Liverpool, in the summer, hampered his chances of regaining his place which first came under threat with the arrival of Ronaldo after the 2002 World Cup from Inter Milan.

Ronaldo and Spanish international Raul are the first choice strikers at Real and Owen has done enough this season to make himself first choice replacement, forcing Morientes to look to reignite his career elsewhere.

    .........welcome gerard.............

.....that's the problem with Real, they have so many good players that one must be strong enough to accept that he will be a substitute. Solari went to Barcelona knowing that his place will be jeopardize with the arrival of Robinho.

Sayang. I like solari. He always have good contributions with passes and some goals. He's one of the best 12th man out there and earned him a slot in the national team.

I also like this Ronaldinho's comment on the Gunners.

""Every goal they score is perfection. You rarely see them score a boring goal."
