Athlon MPs kick the Xeon's butt. However, they are not available here but they could probably be special ordered from Singapore by the distributor.

for real? can athlons outmatch p4s?how?why?
here's a tip: read pages 1 to 8 and the rest of page 9![]()

visit www.hardcoreware.net under the processor review section...
You'll see interesting pc test results head-on: Athlon vs Pentium!
That's where I saw an Athlon XP 2100 (Palomino) beats a Pentium 2.4GHz (Northwood)!
(well, in some tests)
Given the processor's native clock speed:
XP2100= 1.73GHz
vs
Pentium 4 2.4= 2.4GHz
see the difference? To learn how the XP2100 beats in some tests the pentium, see for yourself.
if an AthlonXP2100 @ 1.73GHz managed to beat a Pentium 4 2.4GHz in some tests, how much more if it was an AthlonXP2600?!
You'll get faster response time, not just with the processor, but the overall system at a lesser price:
AthlonXP2600 = P6200.
P4 2.4GHz = P9800.
Of course, you can't expect Athlon to be more expensive than the Pentium...
Intel is a big company... Intel is a strong established name... Intel can jack up prices because they CAN!
It's like buying a branded watch... ROLEX vs OMEGA.... or a branded jeans, etc...
OT: yeah overall.. you're just paying much for the brandname... not the performance... of course I can understand why Rolex watches are like cars in terms of prices -- craftmanship is superb and of fine quality materials.. but who cares if I just want to know the time? my point is... if you want price/performance... AMD is the way to go... on the other hand .. if you want brandrecognition/prestige... go for Intel... I choose the formerOriginally Posted by zi0n

yeah Intel is expensive maybe because of their R&D expenses... they were ahead of AMD in technology.. that is why they were first in manufacturing 13 micron chips.. first to manufacture high clockspeeds... but AMD made far better chips because their design are better![]()
How about dual processor setups? Dual Athlon or Dual Xeon/Pentium?
