as students, ge-train man gud ta para ma nindot or ma-sharp ang atong analytical skills, para magamit nato sa atong actual works....ang mga basic mathematics subjects sa engineering course, actually magamit na tanan especially if nag work gyud ka as engineer sa imong field or labi na na-a ka sa design nag trabaho...or na-a ka manufacturing filed....i think all the subjects nga gi-tudlo magamit biya, like english, pilipino, history.....wen i was studying, nangutana pud ko, nganu man nga na-a ko subjects sa Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial ug Mechanical nga Electronics man unta ko, karon kahibalo nako nganu, nagamit sya tanan....

Somehow, we could understand how things happen but seldom on how to do things. I have seen a lot of students from technical schools like TESDA and CITE outdo students from bigger universities, and even a funnier yet embarrassing experience, I have seen a 3rd year ECE student from a prestigious university here in Cebu who doesn't even know what a resistor look like!!

Laboratory hours must be more than the lecture hours. If puro lang lecture, most engineers will end up as "engineer sa papel".

Why does some of the teachers want to fail their students? Does it affect their salary? If they fail more students, the bigger the salary? I don't really understand. Some instructors would fail their students even if they have no failing grades.

I think, some instructors love to have that title called "Terror".

gamit baya ang differential equations/advanced math sa control systems..... gamit ayu ning math kung naa sa R&D.....

i don't think na a good students from big universities malupig lang sa usa ka technical graduate....there's a big diference, what an engineer can do ug unsay mabuhat sa usa ka technical graduate sa CITE ug TESDA,...ang engineers, normally mga designers na sila (and generally kahibalo mu-ayo) whereas ang mga technical graduates tig-ayo....if na-a man siguro engineer nga wala kaila ug resistor, basin walay au ang iyang school or maybe ang student mismo mao ang BOGO......

i agree, magamit ang tanan nga basic subjects sa college..dili lang sya magamit if nag-work ka nga wala sa imong field....even a simple maxima-minima computations is very useful...

There are also a lot of people from technical schools are are doing great in some fields, and even have better positions than people coming from bigger universities and are licensed professionals. Maybe what I've witnessed was an isolated event but speaking about my personal experience, I have been into USC for almost 5 years yet I've learned more hands-on approach outside USC, e.g. Computers and IT related stuffs and electronics. I have learned a lot of theories at school but I had a hard time relating it to real time, either because the laboratory is too lax or the training is simply just that way, to prepare for the board examination. Nakat-on lang ko after I enrolled at some short term courses which is more focused on hands-on approach and doesn't stick too much on lecture.

As what most people say, naa ra gyud na sa tao or estudyante ang kugi, whether he comes from a technical school or a prestigious university, it really won't matter much. Ang kugihan gyud ang daling moasenso. But at school, at least teachers would give more, or at least some time giving students ideas on how to apply those theories practically and in real time. Sometimes that's one thing nga makawala ug gana sa student because they don't know kung unsa ilang gieskwelahan.

Maybe I'm just a bit lucky because I got the best of both worlds, the theories from USC and the experiences I've gained from different short term courses, at least I can relate the things I know to things that I should do.
