its a DISQUALIFICATION actually and not a fault according to akc conformation shows. however there is a special breed show only for WGSD's and wgsd clubs conducts their own conformation shows in which markings of other color aside from white is disqualified.

i dont see actually why this is a disqualification aside from the history that A. Hitler together with the Nazi party banned and ordered to kill all white german shepherds. thats why most good wgsd's lineage are in u.s.; hence these are the wgsd's that escaped obliteration in europe during nazi era.

not albino. hence if you check with definition of albino, physically the specimen should have white eyebrows or whiskers; in which wgsd's has black. albino has white nose or anything which is supposed to be black (paws, lips, etc) is white or pinkish white because of lack of the dark color pigment. this is the reason why the nazi's in germany during the nazi era ordered the obliteration of all white gsd's because they "thought" its close or akin to albinism on german shepherds. thus, if its albino it is of a weaker race or breed. another reason for the nazi's is that wgsd on their preference is not a desirable color(white color coat), which appears to them as a "weaker" specie.

temperament "I HEARD" they are more lazy to learn compared to black and tans or the black gsds. this the reason most schutzhund gsd champions are black or blanket back since most trainers prefer it over sable back, silver or white due to their eagerness to learn. temperament differs on every breed and dog, however gsd instinct is the same.

advantage though is that they use their vocal chords a lot more than any other dog breed to compare. not just in comparison to gsd's but all other dogs. sooner or later i guess wgsd's will be dubbed as the parrot of dogs ehehhe. check youtube and search for "talking dog". most of the results will be wgsd's.

another advantage is if a wgsd will be trained to be a working dog like a sniffer on airport and hotels; its more desirable to the guests that a white dog is sniffing their bags and things compared to a more scary looking bgsd.

good information u got here, bro.. i really plan to have this kind of dog instead of getting a husky (well personal preference ni siya ) because of its unique color. i just dont have an idea of its value right now considering its famous entry in primetime television (lobo)

My personal description of WGSD... I owned 2 WGSD's for 4 yrs now, My female wgsd is very alert, attentive and very intelligent. She can read facial emotions and are sensitive to the owners voice patters... I had her trained for a month of basic commands, and she quickly learned it all, she is now fully capable of off-leash dog walks, 1 big problem though, She only obeys the trainor for off leash issues, tha trainor can control 100% of her behavior, while me the owner can control my female 80% most of the time...

My male Wgsd however is different, coz he is the alpha male of the pack of litters and is dominant in behavior, He only obeys me and doesnt care about others... though very intelligent, I must say he is very wise... coz he learns quick and knows how to manipulate the owner/trainor, turning the training the other way around...

All i can say through experience is that, Wgsd's differ in traits depending on the bloodline, but the basic instincts of a black&tan GSD are there, 1 thing different though, these are the things most of the trainors tell me, WGSD's are more sensitive to physical pain, They tend to be more hurt physically and emotionally more compared to the black&Tans... so TLC is very important.
