Anywhere around the world you try and ask where is the best mango...... Its still the philippines.... Some would say its the soil here that makes our mangoes distinct...

Australains have tried to plant mangoes by getting seedlings from guimaras island..... the result was not good.... they failed to replicate the taste of the mango from guimaras...

that is why australians export mango puree only because the fresh fruit will never be as good as the mango here....

the Mexican mango is also not as good as our mangoes... they even tried calling it Manila mango....

Thailand has their own kind of mango which is good also.... but still not as good as the mango here....

    so good luck people

    we also have mango trees

after tasting the harvest every year all i can say is these:

    1. one time we harvested 10 baskets and all of them were very sweet and it was the best mango ever from our farm

    2. one time also we got only 3 baskets and these were very small its like they never grew. and it tasted sour

    3. one time also we got around 5 baskets but because of faulty spraying KUNO it was sour again

so its what they call timing timing ra gyud

As my father would say dapat sakto sa gulang sakto sa spray sakto sa season. ambot maglibog nako.....

if there is anyway na ma consistent kanang always right ang taste and always right ang number......

why is it nga dili consistent ang taste sa inyong manga? bata pa tingali kaayo. its not the spray, ang sakto nga age sa pagpa-bunga depende sa dahon sa mangga, dili basta basta imo lang spray-han para pa-bungahon. kanang bunga sa init, dili pud na maayo, gamay ra sad kaayo ang yeild. mas maayo nga kung mo-buwak ang mangga naturally, imong sundan og pa-aso para mo-daghan, or spray og bloomer, pero kasagaran ining buwak sa init, mo-lumbay pud ang ubang dahon, wala na nay ayo.

dali ra man pag-padaghan ug yeild sa mango production, mahal lang kaayo ang pesticides karon, so the best way is alternative methods. ang number one enemy sa mango production is only - bagyo. its one thing nga beyond human control. kung wala lang untay bagyo, dato na ko, lol .

actually dili man kami mo spray

There are people who approach us who will spray and we get part of the harvest

We don't sell mangoes.... My father plants them because its his hobby....

So if there is a way to make it consistent maybe i can make it into a business

para ma rich pud ko and pareha nata.........

mga bros, nice ni nga topic da!

we have a small lot in Bogo(north of Cebu), my father just don't want it to be idle unya para palahi pud...gitamnam niya ug manga. He just went to that nursery in mandaue(kanang duol sa bridge-metro gaisano) purchased a "seedling" marcotted man tingali to...then gitisok didto sa small lot...karon siguro 8yrs old na to sila around 14 to 20 trees...tupad pud to sila ug 3ka big cluster of bamboo plant, ug tupad ug 4ka dagko nga punu-an sa buli. He seldom goes there kay kapuyan siya...relatives ra namo didto ang nag-'bantay'...bantay salakay kay one time naay nag sulti nga namunga na kuno...pero mura wa man kaabot deri sa cebu city ang bunga hehehe...kausa ra mi kabalita nga namunga. twice a year mo-adto hinuon mi didto.

idle lot...gitamnam ug manga...wala pud gi-atiman...idle lang gihapon hehehe.

kadto hinuon mga mangaha....wa pa katilaw ug spray, wa pa sad pamutli....nature pa ang nag-atiman adto niya.

    mga pangutana:
    1. unsa kaha to sila nga variety no?
    2. kung dili sprayhan, kapila man gyud na mamunga ang manga in one year?
    6. for a good yield, unsa man dapat ang distansya between trees? trunk to trunk? leaves to leaves?

    tnx.

1.) 3 types ra ang naa sa cebu, kung sa nursery gipalit, most probably, commercial type to. dili pajo or indian,.
2.) normally, kausa ra sa usa ka tuig, usahay - once in two years
4.) dili matag-an, depende sa kondisyon sa manga, duna may 8 years nga daut,...
5.) dili na kinahanglan ang fertilizer, basta normal lang ang yuta, unya keep clean ang ilawon sa mangga, ug distansiya gamay gikan sa tupad nga mga kahoy o sagbot,.
6.) maximum distance, ang uban mo-ingon nga 5 meters trunk to trunk, pero gamay ra kaayo na, in 10 years wala nay lugar, mamatay hinoon ang uban ana,.. siguro at least 10 meters akong i-recommend as minimum. kay kinahanglan ug space from leaves to leaves of another.

(dili ko agri. ha, nagdako lang ko sa bukid, i observe lang sa mga nag-gam sa mangga, unya kaon pud inig harvest, i usually ask about 100 select mango nga dili ibaligya, para kaon ra nako.;... lol, its a small qty.)

    tnx musashi.

when I go back to that small lot...i'll take note of the current condition there.
I'm thinking of developing the lot into a small mango plantation hehehe
then maybe buy the neighboring lots(sugar cane) para expand sa mango plantation...kung makadaug sa lotto
