If you've never slept with the band, you're not a groupie.

yes it's a generalization. some groupies sleep with the band, others are contented with watching the band play, knowing where the gigs are, the bands' members, their birthdays, where they live, their favorite food...simply put, a groupie is an admirer of a celebrity who attends as many of his/her gigs, public appearances..

it's more or less like that...but usually they refer to groupies as those ppl who do want to get laid with a dude in a famous rock band.

people who are serious with the music and stuff are the hardcore fans.

those who develop obsessive desires are the stalkers.lolz

I would like to add my own experience... mine is a little different though, more of like the reverse of yours.

He was a drummer of a very famous rockband. I can even say the band name coz the band has since changed drummer boys!

Johnny and the Walkers (is it with S? now I dont remember anymore)

My cousin and I loved bands, we love rock bands and although we would bump and grind to any and all RnB tunes, we always find time to watch bands perform, especially our favorite local band, Johnny.

I cannot explain it, but I would normally admire drummers than I would vocalists or guitarists. And the first time I saw Johnny perform, I fell in love with the drummer, it was INSTANTaneous.

Geez, that was really a long time ago, probably 8 or 9 years ago. Because we were habitues of Artis Dais and some other places for musicians--names I couldn't remember I was able to get his number.

I would text him all about my admiration. I would even call him. The only difference here is that he welcomed this. We would talk nights 3 times a week ON THE CELL! It was EXPENSIVE but I didn't mind because in my mind and in my heart I was madly in love with him.

I researched on the band, about him, on the Internet even. I always watch his gigs, I always go to places they hang out.

One time, I got a text message and it was from the girlfriend. The girlfriend said a lot of nasty things to me which could be summed up into asking me to stop texting his boyfriend. I was guilt-stricken so I asked for apology and promised I wont ever bother the boyfriend again.. Unfortunately, that same night, HE asked me to call him. So we talked again on the phone for hours...

*sigh*

He was the first and only drummer whom I admired. I stopped admiring drummers now..

Im more into guitarists...
