PENSHOPPE's YOUTH PLEDGE for PROGRESS

Youth...No Longer the Hope of Our Motherland
Prioritize the Right Priorities
Life is fun and it is ought to be enjoyed. We have online games, malls, resto bars and other hangouts. Way back in college, I was hooked into playing video games. Yes! We have lots of excuses why we shouldn’t focus on education. Life is fun however life is not about all fun. We have responsibilities which require us to do what we must do so we can do the things we want to do. My suggestion is that whenever you’re having fun, have fun as if there’s no tomorrow! Just bear in mind your responsibilities. And if you’re learning something, learn as if you’re to live forever! If doing what you’re doing now doesn’t lead you anywhere, then you know you need to change. Make education your priority and learning becomes fun.
Educate Your Self on Your Own
The illiterate of today are not those who cannot read nor write. The illiterate of this modern world are those who cannot learn on their own. It’s so sad that most of those who have gone before us are schooled yet they are not educated. The true value of education is not getting a degree. The true value of education is when…
… you have become better than what you have been.
… you have learned something that you can make use in your real life.
… you become a person of compassion, having respect for human dignity and pride being a Filipino.
Never Cease to Learn
To learn is more important than to know. When you graduate, you shall be enrolled in a university called Real Life. By then you still have to continue learning. Learn how to face the challenges in the real world. Learn how to do whatever it takes. Learn to achieve success without compromising your principles and values. Education is a process of living and living is a process of learning. If you’re through learning, you’re through living. So don’t stop learning!
Generations had passed. They said time and again that the youth is the hope of our motherland. I believe it is not true today because our generation is the generation that shall not only be the hope. Our generation is no longer the hope of our motherland but our generation shall be the realization of that hope.
My fellow youth, let us all take part in the revival of our country. There’s no such thing as a hopeless situation…only people who think hopelessly. Beyond your schooling, learn to value education as you value your life. Let’s all be part of the realization of that hope. That would be our pledge for progress!
