Does estimated wattage mean naa pana extension?? for ex: 9800GT kay pag calculate is 50W naa panay lugway sa wattage nga gi require niya?? or exactly 50W jud as estimated? or more than pa jud.

Ang mga mobo sa asus it says 300W rating of PSU at least. Inadequate psu power make system unstable or may not boot. Mao nay sulti sa manual jud.

    Saon! hehehe.....

The 50w requirement sa 9800GT is already a requirement + tolerance.

@yugi sakto sila personalmgt ug vipvip68

kani siya mao ni sayup pataka post ug spam pasaka post count. pls read forum rules para di ma kalas imong time ug pataka ug post nya di ra kaabot junior member tungod sa iyang style haha.

kana 500watts na hec ok naman na siya di kay ingon na recommended siya pero preffered other than generic.
mao ta ni ako plano paliton na psu sauna pero i think dili ko maka future proof niya tungod sa iyang mga specification like amprating sa 12v+. nya naka basa ko about sa kanang mas mag long imo psu if di siya mag 100% load sigi or anywhere near that.

ok na kaau na imo psu for that setup bro oi.

@limes: Paki explain imong reason why di cya recommended jud? naa kay basis? unsa diay if it has 12V?? ako di ko sweto ani jud about PSU mao pasabta ko. Dba the higher watts the better?? how about 80plus certification unsa na cya?? Noob kaayo ko ana pls help me understand to choose a good PSU. Thanks

a 400 or 450 watts psu will even do with your set up (corsair hx450)

maski pag 300w pwede ana nga set up basta kana gahi nga psu lang

i dont really trust so much on 80+ certification

    heres why

i rely on reviews as guide on buying psu

@yugi ngano mo palit man ta ug subra na PSU for a setup that eats less electricity? if branded nya palit ka ug higher wattage na psu that would cost you much nya di nimo ma maximize although naa kay future proofing.
about sa 12v i want higher rating sa 12volts para inkaso mg daghan ug mga GPU magamit jud nako siya nya di ko ma kulang. sa ako psu karon kay uses four 12v rails with 25amps each dako2x siya tungod sa version specification sa psu. usa na ka factor mo affect ang version kay a 2.0ver na psu lahi ug specification sa 2.3ver na psu like sa old 2.0 dako ug 5v amp rating while sa 2.3 higher ang 12volts amp ratings compared sa old one. kay ang mga systems karong panahuna lahi na mag agad ug power like sauna mag agad sila higher amp rating sa 5volts 3volts etc while karon is 12volts tungod sa mga power hungry na mga GPU.

sakto ka bro the higher the wattage the better pero if budget is not that high this is not a good idea.

80plus certification is like kana na mga psu kay ilang power conversion is 20% ra ang max na ma convert into heat. mao na mag init ang PSU while magka taas ang imo certification magka gamay ang percent na ma convert into heat. naa nay mga gold, silver, bronze, etc wa nuon ko kahinundum asa nag best pero i think ang gold.

efficiency is important baya kay kalas kaau corrente if gamay ang efficiency. ang pinaka nindut kay 100%efficiency pero i dont think there is such a thing.

When I see the top of the line cards sa Nvidia and AMD... maka ingon ko nga gi brute force gyud sa mga engineers ang card to attain the speed nila.

Gi compromise ang energy efficiency and physical size / cooling requirements in exchange for brute force performance....

There are two other instances i've seen this before sa PC industry...

    1. Vodoo 5.... (RIP 3dfx)
    2. Pentium 4 (we all know what happened to that)

Step back for a minute and ask yourself why you need to buy a 700-1,000watt PSU....

You need to buy a monster psu because the engineers are too lazy to figure out how to make their GPU designs more efficient. AMD is making advances sa ilang 5xxx series cards... pero ang top of the line cards nila are an indication nga gi brute force ang design...

From an engineering standpoint... that's just bad product design. It's also forcing power users to buy extreme wattage PSU's.... let's not even get into the power bill...

Ani nalang ta' ang rule of thumb

300W PSU max system wattage for Single Card
500W PSU max system wattage for Double/Triple/Quad Xfire or SLI

    @yugi,

The only thing you're hurting in getting something like a 700watt psu is your wallet. A 700 watt psu won't necessarily draw more power than say .... a 500 watt psu. Like I said, naay other factors involved such as the efficiency of the PSU over varying temps.

After the Pentium 4 nuclear reactor burst....The driving force behind high wattage psu's has been videocards. Specifically the Amperage in the supplemental 12v rail that more powerful cards need. The Amperage needed has been constantly going up and up as videocards have been getting faster and faster...

Power supplies have different efficiencies at different temperatures. As temperature gets higher, the PSU's efficiency tends to drop. That's why people look for branded PSU's with "80+ certification".

In short... choose a good brand, consider the 80+ certification but keep in mind that the 80+ certification is affected by temperature... so keep your PSU cool.

I forgot to point out that I currently use a 550w Gigabyte Odin Pro with my specs as:

    E2180 stock
    ECS G31-TM
    2gb DDR2 667mhz
    160gb Hard Drive
    DVD-ROM
    4 80mm fans with LED
1 120mm silverstone fan with LED
Cooler Master V8 - The box says its a 180w cooling solution but i dont really believe it.

Last and the heaviest part is an XFX 9800gx2 that I just returned to the owner last Tuesday. Remember a 9800GX2 draws double the power or more than what a regular 9800GT could do. Hope you that enlightens your decision to get a 500w PSU.
