what's funny is that everyone seems to be riding any news that comes out, lately. like fish said in the other thread, its the partner not the manufacturer but then again, my stand remains; this is a make-believe shortage para mo demand ang mga nvidia graphics cards.

    unless Nvidia says so hihihi

Obviously, if i worked in nvidia or owned it, why would i come forth and say "oh we are discontuing gtx 260 up series because we can't make money anymore, sorry."

Truth or not, from comments i got, especially in yahoo, its very entertaining and too funny
This is better then the argument of "lol nvidia owns batman game of course there product should benefit more then ati products" obviously thats stupid, as what centax_error said, "i have to buy an nvidia gpu to run this game better?" This doesn't even help gamers at all.

my point, exactly. if i am a manufacturer who have tons of GPU in stock right now and the other camp is making loads of money because they offer the cheaper and better performing GPU, i wouldn't say we're stopping this card because we're not making money. i'd put it in such a way that it gives out positive output like, "hey, there's a shortage of this card, so we cannot supply the demand". this is basically hitting two birds with 1 stone. they create a demand for those seeking nvidia GPUs while not shaming themselves because they cannot compete with price/performance and prices might go up because of the so-called shortage which is a bonus. i'm not a businessman, i'm just an optimist.

on the batman issue, i look at it differently, though. TWIMTBP or a similar program is a good initiative, it is good if nvidia is really making an initiative to enhance the gamer's experience -- i'm not that much of a gamer anymore so i can't tell. this should be made a standard or bisan official statement nalang from the game developers and manufacturer during the development phase that they've approached them and they supported/declined the offer. that way, naay transparency so no one would think that they're being ripped off and credit is given where credit is due.

if the AA issue on batman is a lie, shame on Nvidia but if ATI really declined the offer by the developers to assist them in AA support, shame on ATI.

There actually shaming themselves, lots of nvidia fanatics are getting impatient with nvidia. Especially with questions toward AMD about DX10. It's like "WHY ARE U DEVELOPING DX11?! its useless" Also don't forget about Batman Game, there wasn't any decline from ATI, there was already huge obvious proof when running the batman game with DX support or without. Even if you forced the game via ATI CCC to run 8x/16 AA, or whatever you would actually lose a little bit of performance, instead of no performance lost. It's like 'sorry we detected that you have ati card, we are going to lower ur perfromance.'

If its for business and marketing point of view, what nvidia is doing is correct, but for gamers, it's very wrong.

I guess developing gpu's to new technologies is wrong?

People are under the false assumption that AMD is the same as NVIDIA which is very untrue, if you notice AMD is always selling there products at PRICE/PERFORMANCE, compared to NVIDIA.

It's like "oh if nvidia really fails we are doomed because of no competition" this comments are interesting and very annoying. Have you noticed nvidia always have higher prices? 5870 was planned to be $400 now its at $370, see ? If it was nvidia, i am sure 5870 would be selling atleast $480.

AMD has a different marketing strat, its not the same nvidia.

I myself owned both ati and nvidia gpu's from my experiences, i prefer nvidia but, if its for price/performance ratio id go for ATI.

is it just me or am i seeing Intel's tick-tock initiative on ATI? die-shrink, price and technology; they're basically all there. err, dili nuon medyo sa price (intel) but they're doing to nvidia what intel is doing to AMD. dili lang kagukod ang nvidia sa price drop unlike what AMD is doing to their processors.

Intel & Nvidia is in a similar situation except that intel isn't losing any money.

Intel sells quad cores, dual cores, higher price then AMD
Intel has i7 (4 Cores 4 Threads) & Incoming i7 Gulftown(6 Cores 12 Threads) AMD doesn't yet? soon there will be but in a cheaper price then i7 processors.
Amd sells the cheapest on all.

naa naman siguro 6 cores 12 threads ang AMD, iirc - read it somewhere in anandtech's it portal which means, naa pa sa servers but the answer to AMDs cheap line of processors won't come in until next year pa. kadtong mga dual core 4 threads with die-shrink and then its off to larrabee. hopefully, intel delivers larabee with a bang to shake things up in the GPU industry, basin mapareha sad ni sa i740 in the 90s and the itanium processors (IA-64) in the early 2000 which is what gave the people misconception about going 64-bit .

Yes, haha nindot kaau mo spend ug dragon rig, if naa lang intawn sa budget, someday i want an Intel RIG together with an AMD RIG.

I love Asus Crosshair 3 hahai, gasto nsad. People are researching the difference between the i5/i7 vs amd's processor's if there's only little difference in fps, people get AMD.

6 cores and 12 threads for the AMD will be cheaper then intels for sure.

depends on who's on top of the game by the time these processors are out. kung AMD gani ang naa sa babaw, mahal jud ang price and vice versa.

anyway, as far as the topic is concerned, ATI is attacking Nvidia on all fronts. i'm an nvidia fan but i have to admit, ATI graphics cards are the way to go right now (eyeing 5770 ), hopefully, ATI invests in software development just like how nvidia do it. i remember a comment from an intel engineer somewhere around the forums in the net, "bleeding edge technology is nothing without good software". the same reason why software/driver developers outnumber engineers in intel.

    Spoiler!

these pictures came out at bit-tech.net but was pulled out within a few minutes as per request from AMD, daw. curse you, NDA!
