I find it funny to read remarks here from people who, have not experienced living in that area (or perhaps not having visited it yet, even), but yet, seem to have some form of idea or solution about the problem. Ako, gikan pa 1973 intawon, nagpuyo na ko nianang lugar, both Iligan City, and Marawi City...and I can tell you this--you have absolutely no idea what's going on--you think you know stuff, but most of what you know, you know only via stuff you get sa sometimes incompetent media people (do you know that inquirer.net actually apologized because there were errors and inaccuracies in the original report/news flash?).

So better think about your opinions carefully before posting them here. Having attended several journalism seminars in Lanao since 1987, you have no idea how media operates in that locale, and how "news" sometimes gets distorted. And then you post about your solutions and ideas...bravo...mind readers siguro mo.

I've got relatives scattered all over the central Mindanao area. In Isulan, my late uncle (Canja) used to be in the treasury dept. there. My cousin-in-law used to be chief of police in Tacurong. Got relatives as far north as Kabacan. I've got a cousin who's an RTC Judge (Canja) in Gen. San, and my dad now lives in Marbel (Koronadal).

It's not easy to tell a story without the proper backgrounder, and that backgrounder needs an entire lifetime of experiences in that area to fully comprehend.

Mao. People don't even know that more people die in a weekly basis, due to crime, in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu, than in Marawi City? Kung dili peaceful intawon didto, mosugot kaha ko nga akong anak didto mopuyo?
