.. anyway, back to journey... to answer my own question which was intended for leo_trams ( obviously a journey fan wannabe ) ... all of this crap is due to Neal Schon's jealousy of Steve. In the first years of Journey it was all about Neal and his guitar works, the vocals was none existant, it was like a Jimi Hendrix album, crappy vocals but damn good guitar playing. When Steve Perry came, Journey made a 360 degree turn, it became a " singing band ", if you guys know what i mean. And Steve was an instant hit with the fans with his god-like vocals and within the group it was steve and jonathan cain who wrote most of the material. To make it short.. IT WAS ALL STEVE PERRY. Neal became "just the guitarist" and this made him angry. HIs animosity towards steve started from there. When Steve released his solo album Street Talk, Neal made bad comments saying " it sounded like journey". But on this part of his career, Steve's mom got ill and he had to travel back and forth during their tours, it was like, concert venue-home-concert venue-home. And with this Neal disbanded Journey. On 1994, Steve released his second solo album For The Love Of Strange Medicine, ( this album was my soundtrack of my college years ). It's a damn good album, better than some of his Journey material... anyway, eventually Steve and Neal set aside their difference and reunited to release Trial By Fire, this album was the best of them all. ( my fave song GIRL IM LEAVING YOU, a reggae with funny lyrics ). Fans devoured the album but before the tour could begin Steve got his hip injured, for two years Steve was undecided wether to go under the knife or not. And here comes Neal, he said "fck steve, he isnt journey, we can go on without him". They got on with the tour with Steve Augeri on vocals ( which sounds like Johny Waite of Bad English ). And this of course hurted Steve Perry deeply stating that Journey will never be the same without him and that his bandmates ( especially Neal ) are too greedy with the commercial aspect of the band. And in support to Steve Perry, the god-like Steve Smith also left the band. ... and Journey was limping ever since Steve Perry left. Augeri made one album Arrival and did some tours but with lots of contreversy, the live DVD's vocals was remastered or redone in the studio to make it sound more steve perry. But Augeri soon left the band stating that he got throat infection when in fact, he can't take all the pressure. Next up was Scott Soto, not worth talking. hehe.... and now here comes Arnel. A man who Neal could just push over and control. Coz this is what Neal wants - JOURNEY TO BE ABOUT HIMSELF. He wants to be it's leader. But look at Journey now, they might be selling out arenas all over the world but due to one reason: Arnel sounds like Steve... it's still all about Steve Perry. I've listened to their new album, sadly it sucks. The songs are boring, it has no direction, Arnel was also like Augeri, singing without passion. The songs are good but it really lacks passion from Arnel.... if you want to know what passion is.. listen to the songs Easy to Fall and Still She Cries of the Trial by Fire album. Those songs are mediocre but it was made great by Steve's singing... that's the difference Steve Perry makes...
