Call center is just one of of the many BPOs. like 1 out of 15. I agree that The majority of people are call center agents. But Generalizing That BPO is in trouble is misinformation.
Well, the bill is 'Call Center and Consumers Protection Bill'. Mao na nga more on call centers ang discussion. More or less, ang call centers ang mas ma apektohan if madayon ni nga bill.

    Obama's BPO call mere politicking

MANILA, Philippines -- An American executive dismissed U.S. President Barack Obama's support for a US bill against business process outsourcing (BPO) as a political move.

In his State of the Union address last week, Obama announced his support of US House Bill 3696 or the US Call Center and Consumer Protection Act, in which US companies will be denied incentives from the government if they continue to outsource in other countries like the Philippines.

But Jeff Williams, president of MediCall Philippines Inc., a healthcare service provider, said Filipinos should not be alarmed by this, noting that outsourcing has long been a campaign issue in the United States.

"It’s politically driven. Of course, it’s election year. The type of outsourcing the Philippines provides can actually help [U.S.] businesses grow, not diminish it," he said.

Obama is up for re-election later this year.

Williams also noted that what Obama is calling for is the "insourcing" of manufacturing, and not services.

"What he was discussing was the manufacturing model," he said.

Williams said MediCall currently has 300 job openings.

Before Obama's speech, the Business Processing Association of the Philippines projected a 30-percent increase in the number of jobs in the sector for this year.

To be sure, the group has since said it is looking at ways to increase its clients from Europe, Australia and Asia.

The BPO industry in the Philippines earns $7 billion a year with more than 600,000 employees.

As of now, 70% of their clients are American companies.

According to jobsdb.com, there are currently more than 4,000 job openings in BPOs and call centers in the Philippines.

yup tinuod gyud.siguro na Cliche nalang ang BPO = CC thing. kay mostly gud sa mga outsourced businesses diri kay call centers. same ragud na sa analogy nga palit kag colgate nga close-up. hihihi.

ang dako nga industry nga outsourced gyud kay naa sa manufacturing which is mao gyud na dapat ifocus sa americans if nahan sila mubalik nang mga work nila.
