Congrats to Miguel. I don't know him but as a fellow Cebuano, I am happy for his academic achievement. dili lalim mahimong summa cum laude sa UCLA ui.

But I just don't know if that can change the people's perception on his alleged death threat case...

the weakness of filipino voters is that we have AMNESIA and that is not only applicable to miguel.

e.g. Enrile, Honasan, Trillanes, Garcias and even the god damn Ampatuans. We seem to have an undying affinity for recycled losers.

The Philippines, which will once again be represented by the Ateneo Law School, is the defending champion, since the Ateneo Philippine Jessup Team 2004 won the World Championship last year, defeating the likes of Harvard, Yale, Cambridge and Oxford.

Christina Garcia Codilla belonged to the team.

does it matter kung unsa ang ilang mga anak? if summa cum laude, so what? mga arrogante ra man gihapon na ang mga parents nila.. being an honor student doesn't change their parents' attitude towards other people.. just because they're elected to high gov't positions doesn't mean they own the place..

summa cum arrogante nuon tuo pa ko.. tsk tsk tsk

birds of the same feather make up a good feather duster..

Crab mentality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as crabs in the bucket, describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Singly, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise. The analogy in human behavior is that of a group that will attempt to "pull down" (negate or diminish the importance of) any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of jealousy or competitive feelings.

This term is broadly associated with short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality. It is also often used colloquially in reference to individuals or communities attempting to "escape" a so-called "underprivileged life", but kept from doing so by others attempting to ride upon their coat-tails or those who simply resent their success.[1]

It describes a desperate lust to pull other people down, denigrating them rather than letting them get ahead or pursue their dreams. It is an unwillingness to allow someone to get out of dire or bad life situations, often being foiled by friends and family members who keep sucking them back in. This trait can strike at several levels of life, like in office environments, particularly on promotion. It is a reflection of the famous saying “we all like to see our friends get ahead, but not too far ahead.”[2]

somehow i agree w/ that but not totally...Erap is now 3rd in the presidential surveys...hahay. if that's the case, they better elect Imelda Marcos too.

    I agree to some only.

Enrile is still a force to reckon with and is not a loser. besides, what about him? what amnesia did the people commit against Enrile? The Marcos thingy?

The Garcias? what about 'em? People aren't forgetting the CICC and the Balili case. Besides, they are not yet proven guilty. U mean don't vote for them because of those controversies? Sorry but not all people think like you do. These days, an allegation can already make one guilty. Just look at Miguel's case.

As for Honasan and Trillanes, well, who could forget them? U know, even if what they did was wrong, some people think it is right.

Ampatuans? samot dili jud malimtan...Nothing that they did on the horrific massacre makes it right. Ang buang ra cguro ang mutuo nga sakto toh ilang gibuhat.

now back to Miguel, I don't think people have already forgotten about his alleged death threat case. It is just that his parents are proud of his academic achievement.

and whether their public announcement that their son got a summa cum laude grade is purely a parental instinct or something that they could hopefully change the people's perception, that we don't know.

it's your opinion that you've already decided that klarong corruption ang pagpalit sa Capitol sa Balili lots. I respect that. But note yours is not shared by everybody.

Believe me or not, but many people would still want to vote Gwen again as governor. Why? Perhaps they really felt the changes. Perhaps their angst and resentment against Tomas and his attached strings weighs more to them than the allegations hurled against Garcia. Perhaps the more Tomas quarrels Gwen, the more probincyanos sympathize with her.

NEVER SAY THESE VOTERS ARE DUMB AND STUPID.

U SEE, politics is the art of winning the heart and mind.

I won't be surprised if Mike Rama will lose to Georgia or Alvin. If that will happen, all blame will be on Tomas.

Tomas' dirty politics of Cebu Province vs. Cebu City is already becoming more and more annoying day by day. They can see it on the childish SRP sign Tomas put. They can see it in the paid ad he just published. They can see the put down he made over his political opponents like Guardo, Cuenco, and delos Santos. They can see the discrimination Tomas imposed over the probincyanos. They can see the 600-M taxpayer's money dangled over just to win the votes this coming elections.

Gatuo c Tomas nga malimpyo, ma vindicated, ug ma usab ang perception ang mga tawo sa iyang anak by proudly announcing that his son became a summa cum laude? I don't think so...Marcos was also a summa cum laude u know.
