Beware of this Hosting Company.. Very poor customer/technical support service

i have been into the websites thingy for years.
during my early years i tried a reseller from cebu "Astang Web Solutions" if i recall correctly.
that was what i used for my clients and my personal sites.

then things went undesirable.
their servers went down more frequently, their most recent backups were one week old.
to compensate with their bad service, they give me one month free.
but i dont need one month free, i need reliable service.
so i switched to US based hosting companies.

now i have a few accounts with inmotionhosting.com, one of which is $40 per month VPS hosting for my Bisdak TV and Timeless Classic website.

now, i wonder why people tend to chose local hosting over US based and foreign ones.
what seems to be the advantage?
customer support? i chat with inmotionhosting people and get the help i needed right away.

as for the WordPress installation, you can get it free from the official website.
i don't use fantastico, i prefer to download installers from the official site because SMF advised me to do so way back when i was into Simple Machines.
