IMHO, d ko gwapahan sa Puerto Rico smart lang jud...I have nothing against Miss Puerto Rico as far as the "smart" comment. wala ta kahibalo kung ang interpreter maoy naka "smart" ato niya. since we don't know/understand much about Spanish, we don't know if what she was trying to imply thru her answers were close to how the interpreter relayed them to the judges and to the audience in general. wala ta kabalo kung gipalami an tog maayo sa nag interpret di ba?
just my point of view...

^^^mao sad...well basta naay interpreter dli mn jud ta ka ingon nga ni match word by word.the thought is there but not exactly..kung pwede lang unta bawal ang moapil with interpreters..they should know English Language as much as possible..kita mn gni..
nkaingon lang ko smart coz abrupt dayon cya mo answer...ma feel mn sad nmo..hehehe..char
the interpreters interpret the answers exactly as it is or the best they can.... no doubt about that. plus judges amelia vega and maria celeste are both so fluent in spanish.
too bad miss puerto rico fainted 45 minutes after she won during the press conference.....i did like miss japan, she really works the crowd.....
^^ my accusations re interpreters sounds absurd but since nobody in Istorya is as fluent in Spanish as "Marimar" and since the transcript of the "interview portion" of the Miss Universe pageant has not yet been published, we won't know exactly what Miss Puerto Rico answered as well as how the interpreter interpreted her response.
based on your comments, you're not even sure which is which by reading your reply stating "the interpreters interpret the answers exactly as it is or the best they can".
I've worked part-time as an interpreter (Cebuano/Tagalog/English) for a couple of years now and based on my co-workers accounts, their focus is to interpret statements the best way they can specially in a time sensitive scenario such as Miss Universe pageants. French, German, Spanish etc etc are some of the most common language they handle on a daily basis in legal courts for the past 15-20 years and as far as their jobs are concerned, there's just no exact interpretation to every word specially when somebody is "promdi" on a certain country. there are just a lot of variations, and that's a fact.
just my 2 cents
