Hi, ask lang ko, cz mag install tko ug vmware server sa IBM na tower type na server, naa sha 4 hard drives, then naka raid guro ni coz try ko install sa isa ka HD after nako g.format ang 4 HDs, d man mo work, need man mag install sa 2nd hard drive before mo work ang VM.

ako question is, is that how u install an OS on a raid system?you have to install it on more than one HD regardless of what type of raid you have configured? thanks

create an array from the RAID BIOS, then launch OS installation. make sure you have the drivers ready otherwise, dili ma detect sa setup ang hard drive(s) or it can't make use of the array.

Once you have successfully boot your system with the RAID card and along with attached hard drive, Press F6 OR F11 key or it depends upon what RAID card you're using, it will prompt you to do so. In RAID CARD BIOS Menu select & delete all the Drive, for instance it shows 4 drive then you have to select all 4 drive then delete it. Now you need to create an array or you need to choose the drive and select what Raid you wanted to configured in, like RAID5, RAID1, RAID10 n so forth.. After creating the relevant RAID array System will boot & you will require to install operating system either Windows Server or Linux Server but make sure about RAID card driver it will prompt you at the time of installation or you might have to manually choose drivers to install operating system. If you fail to install RAID Card driver then you wont be able to install anything..

usually ang server naa dala CD nah smartstart kato lang gamita bro.

Just remember idol that RAID 0 almost doubles your failure rate but you get all of the capacity (ie. two 1TB hdd in RAID 0 = 2TB). RAID 1 halves the failure rate but you only get the capacity of 1 drive (ie. two 1TB in RAID 1 = 1TB), RAID 0+1 gets both worlds but you need at least 3 drives (ie. three 1TB hdds are used).
dili kaayo ko kamao ug RAID tbh but this is from what i understand. For server applications, kasagaran nag RAID 1, RAID 0+1 (I think it's also known as RAID 5) kay mas important man ang data security over storage capacity. Pili lang boss unsay sakto na configuration para imo.
