I guess nobody really cared about world history when you guys were in school huh! Me neither but I have a couple of things to say about this topic. One comparison we can make is that Spanish colonial efforts were of men while the English for example who came to the North American eastern coast came with their families. Although they share the same singular endeavour to add wealth to their nations, I think colonizers who came with their families perhaps have brought that value for family and had a little more of humanity than of the powerful spanish men who ravaged natives in their colonies. Religion can also be considered as a disadvantage as it implicates one singular belief also, the absolute and infallibe faith in the Catholic church. Up to this day, this has been one big wall why we can never attain progress in our country.

the future of the country has always been in the hands of the people. => crab mentality nato mga Pinoy.

im not good in history, i don't know what happened to the other former Spanish colonies, but we know what happened to Philippines. hehehehe.
