Sometimes the comparisons you think may be most difficult are the easiest to call. The competition at $70 is actually pretty well defined. Intel has the advantage in nearly all of our non-gaming tests; the E5300 is anywhere from 0 - 20% faster in most cases than the Athlon X2 7850. On top of the actual performance advantage, there’s a power advantage too. With the E5300 you’re getting a 45nm chip that can be cooled by a very low profile heatsink or kept nearly silent with a larger one. In either case you’ll have a cooler running computer, slightly lower power bill, and a more pleasant experience come summer.
If you’re building a gaming box however, the recommendation shifts entirely the other way. The Athlon X2 7850 is the clear winner in gaming performance, significantly outperforming the E5300. In gaming tests the E5300 is simply too cache starved and without an on-die memory controller, each trip to main memory is too costly to compete with the 7850.

The only difficulty comes in if you do both of these things - if you’re building a machine that will be used for demanding 3D games and other CPU intensive work. In that case it boils down to which you care about more and whether or not power consumption matters.

Quite possibly the most interesting take away from this review is that with the Pentium E5300 Intel delivers, at $74, a CPU that is faster than the original Core 2 Duo E6400. And as such, it's also faster than every single Pentium 4 ever made. If you're looking to upgrade from an older Pentium 4 system, it'll cost a lot less than you might guess.

the full review and comparison (take note they are all running at stock speed)

if overclocking is involve owning na ang E5300 compared to 7850
ang weakness niya nga mo agi pa sa northbridge to communicate wtih the memory is ma compensate sa iya high clocks so maka match or molabaw pa siya sa 7850 in gaming kay mas pas pas na siya maka process man hehehe akoa ra pod na idea ha if nay dili kauyon aw inyo na na hehehe
x2 7850 sucks big time when overclocking tried and tested na nako, mag lisod na ko increase sa speed maski 500 mhz increase lang but with intel E5300 pwede 1000 mhz ang increase nyahahaha
if magkugi ka og research mostly even newbie overclocker can easily OC this procie at least 3.0 ghz at stock voltage i myself has tried overclocking E5300 with stock voltage at 3.4 ghz prime stable for 2 hours wala na nako matuli og sakto pa kay sa akoa friend na system to iya gipa optimize niya limited time ra hehehe gamit nako is gigabyte g31 mobo which is cheapo na sad

for more info on E5200 overclocking nay thread ni poldo ato diri

so with this we can say that

    E5300
    lower power consumption at load
    runs cooler
    fast in applications
lower performance in games because of lower cache
    highly overclockable
price 3670 (based on pcx SRP price)

    X2 7850
    faster in gaming
    consumes more power at load
    mas init sa E5300
price 3850 (based on pcx srp price)

its your call which procie you choose

thanks alot brad...na educate gyud ko ani dah...at least na enlighten akong gamay na huna2x...hehee...

asa ang mas less ug power consumption but pas2x siya? ang Entel sa?

hehee...ang ako is more on applications, building websites and less games...maybe NBA,warcraft pero more on building websites..like Adobe, corel draw, dreamweaver and etc....

Currently, Intel Core i7 is the fastest processor available in the market... but it somes with a price kung dako imo budget go for an Intel... Pero kung tight imo budget go for an AMD processor... I am an AMD user, ako system kay Anthlon 64 2x, anaa cya limitations pero kumbati kaayo...

Word of adivce choose for an AM3 socket ug motherboard na ddr3 haron dili ka maglisod ug upgrade in the future...

    ang mga drivers mawagtang...

Ang answer ani is..... IT DEPENDS....

    - IT depends on the Price/Performance in comparing two similarly packaged systems.

    - It's not only the price sa processor but also the overall price sa platform... (CPU + Motherboard)

    Generally speaking....

    - Intel holds the speed crown and has been demolishing AMD sa high end since the Core 2 and now the i7.

    - AMD remains competitive because it has good products sa low-end and midrange segments. Also, its platform (CPU+Board) is relatively cheaper compared to a similar Intel setup.

When you compare, don't just limit your decision on Intel or AMD... take a look at the overall system to see which of the two better suits you.

Ako Personally, for a budget of 17-18k, you would be better served with an AMD setup.

    + Cheaper motherboard
+ At this price point AMD processors are competitive or even a bit better than intel counterpart
+ AMD micro atx system has good enough integrated graphics (780G) so you won't need to spend for a useless low end graphics card. (you can save up for a decent graphics card later)

P.S. I've been an AMD user since AMD's K6 so I haven't had the chance to try Intel's offerings sa low-end segment... best if you hear from someone else who has personally used low-end intel products.
