Ironic ABS-CBN and other stations are criticizing political ads but they the one showing it...
of course.. dbah? isnt it ironic na cla ang nag produce cla ang mo criticize?
Im not just speaking of Local Media here. I mean lets face it.. since media were globalized into a consumer product, kita sad mga taw nagkagamay atong education ( not necessarily school ), we are not able to think out of the TV box... dli nata ka appriciate ug little things in life... ive been off TV for half of my life but it doesnt mean that i dont care bout the happenings sa world with regards sa news except lang sa entertainment..... ive seen the sexism a lot sa tv. and we allow media to portray our life that way... example. pobre ang girl datu ang guy.. magkadayon unta cla pero wala kay totol ang family.. i mean in reality if we see the scenario of course imong i apply sa imong nakit-an sa tv because at the end its always happy... although we dont admit that... many scenarios are portraid in sopa operas and its always happy ending/ OA tragic specially for the sake sa love. i mean we lost the freedom to live our life. now how can we say we lost our freedom when were the one who surrendered our freedom.
oi inday kung gusto ka walay filipino subject, hala hawa diri sa pinaskanusa gud na nga nadaghan ug oras kaysa uban subject sa school ang filipino? asa man diay ka ga skwela? or wa kay skwela skwela?
i don't watch local channels but kabalo ko dili lang tagalog shows naa diha noh... naa pud bya mga bisaya nga show... pero unsaon ta man, mas dako man ratings ang mga tagalog shows kaysa mga bisaya... :P
naa tv or wala.. basta mag tarong lang ug eskwela nya maningkamot.. dako chance mo asenso
ayaw pasanginli ang TV.. naa rana sa taw![]()
Hi everyone,
I am new here. So, forgive me if i make a few mistakes.
First, I would like to congratulate the site. It is very cool, educational and very professionally done.
Regarding the topic, I agree. TV is negatively affecting our lives. Less emphasis is given to lessons and good morals. Profit-oriented na ang most of the media networks. Although, as someone mentioned here, we have the choice not to watch, media will still affect us subconsciously especially the younger people who have no solid moral background yet.
But thanks to this topic, we are now aware of this problem. It is now time to address this before it becomes worse. We have to do our part as well. Like, if you have a family, you can limit the viewing of your children to those that are wholesome and not so detrimental. There are other options. QTV and studio23 offer respectful programs. They show news in English as well.
About the question on the importance of Filipino language, I believe it is important because it will unite us as one nation. We have different dialects, like bicolano, ilokano, illongo, cebuano. The only way to unite us is to have a common language. Why not English? because it is not our language. If you want, you can go to England. The use of Filipino language gives us a sense of identity. Although, I must admit English is much easier to use/learn. But we still have to try.
Sorry if my comment is too long. This is just my opinion.
Young people, who dream of becoming entertainers, should be taught not to place all their hope on TV networks for opportunities. Just because GMA and ABS-CBN are both rich and fat does not mean that high paying broadcast entertainment opportunities will be offered to many in Cebu.
For insight on this, read the first post of the thread below

Another thing - the entertainer-wannabes among the youth should be taught to prioritize their education. Some students, who are so passionate about dancing, go as far as dropping out of school to work in entertainment (including broadcast entertainment - like those local variety shows organized by the networks). When their career fails, they either go back to school slightly over-aged or they end up as dropouts for life. Some of them even ended up in prostitution.
