Saw this the other day, and it didn't feel like a movie to me. I was more like a fashion show. It was visually stunning don't get me wrong, but the story was just dull and empty. At 1.5GB, it wasn't worthy of a download (hehe).
i just watched it yesterday..now i know what a true geisha is![]()
I just couldn't bring myself watching the DVD of this movie... got to wait to see it in the theaters!

geishas are not prostitutes..lets get that cleared first
i have read the book and planning to see the movie as well....japan has a very rich but different culture...there are insights and nuances that you need to understand in order to appreciate why they behave the way they do (geishas) ....just like how the samurais lived and fought....mao sad na ang geishas....their very existence is such a wonder in this modern times...
i have met a few geishas in Gion, Kyoto ...met sa dalan ha...mora ko paparrazi gukod2 with my camera...as they walk to the tea houses they "serve"...one was kind enough to pose in a picture with me....that experience got me interested about them...to see one up close...with white made up face and exquisite kimono.....
Cool... i was curious with geisha's as well. Rich bitaw jd kaayo ang japan ug culture sah.. you'd appreciate their culture in this movie.Originally Posted by Gwynhuever
apple_jane...they prefer to be called geiko...pero mas common term ang geisha....there are two main types...the Maiko and the Geisha...ang maiko are young "apprentices" ...they have more elaborate hair styles....colorful kimonos...and the obi ( kanang sash sa likod sa kimono) are left to hang....mao na ang main differences sa appearance...ang geishas are more sophisticated....ang obi folded to look like unlan sa likod and the hairstyle is much simpler....i have seen a show where 2 maikos danced....very elegant and different....
