It is not uncommon to hear priests or pastors say: "Naay laing plano ang Ginoo nimo brad", "Kabubot-on na sa kahitas-an anak," "Okay ra og daghan imong anak kay mao may gihatag sa Ginoo," "Si Lord ra ang mag-igo sis" ug uban pa...that almost every outcome of what you do is decided by God whether you like it or not. It is so easy to make a fallguy out of God to cover the failures of their church or any of their members and this is one of the reasons why many of us are passive to the real issues that we all face -- overpopulation coupled with unequal distribution of wealth; exploitation; corruption and other social ills -- because we think of these problems as divinely designed or ordained when they are in reality of our own making.

    Matud pa ni Galileo:

“ I think that in the discussion of natural problems we ought to begin not with the Scriptures, but with experiments, and demonstrations. ”

“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”

same thing came up during our sessions regarding domestic violence and rape, and abuse....some excuses why they stick with IT....will of god.

somehow, someway....this "god" is one commonly abused word.

“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”

    nice one

they study here because its cheap and after which they go back to korea. us? finding ways to get out of the country.

if your pissed of the system do something about it. stop complaining..
this post of mine is a "sort of" blame in religion. actually, being a christian makes you totally free on doing whatever you want to do. no matter how bad it is, we all know we will be forgiven for what we did. we all relied too much on forgiveness.

i dont know with islam pero in my theory, if you make a sin(i dont know what is the islamic equivalent to this one) in the islam world, you lose several virgins that you would enjoy in the afterlife which is what islamic communities dont want

It's in the personality of most Filipinos that we can go through life using "shortcuts".

The reason why poor people remain poor is because:
    1) They believe their religion tells them aspiring for something big is a sin. I had GFs before who lived in or near slums and the effort of inspiring these people is like talking to a brick wall.
    2) They believe that their God will somehow rain a storm of money on their doorstep. Hence, the belief na "ang ginoo ra makapadatu namo, ngano motrabaho pa man mi og mo eskwela?"

Why do think these scams are rampant in the Phils?
    1) Manghuhula
    2) Faith Healing
    3) Lotteries
    4) Gambling

Because most Filipinos believe you can achieve success by cutting corners. That money and wealth can easily be acquired. Did you know that compared to US and UK lotteries only the Philippines has a lower winning pot average? These countries' winning pots can go as high $500million because people rarely play these games. Hardly anyone in these countries mopatol ug lottery.

This also bring about another trait we are known for: Crab Mentality. In our efforts to cut corners we cut people in our lives to get to where we want to.

For me these are the factors that attribute to our poverty.

God loves the people, because he loves the people he tends to give them tests to make them a real person, however, many of his beloved people failed to accomplished a certain test. These people actually was just keep on asking and asking something from God but doing nothing. Other factor is, the weakness of their hearts that they couldn't be as strong as they want them to be when a great problem comes.

Sad to say, most of the filipino is strong but usahay masubrahan ka strong, mutaas na ang garbo.

Everything is a test, everything is happening for a reason. Must be strong and keep the virtues. That's how to survive.

    To live is to love.

"The medium is the message" Marshall Mcluhan.

What does that tell you? Scroll again, and again, and what does that tell you about Filipinos? If you didnt get it, reread every post here, and again what does that tell you?

Do not read their messages, read their silence.
and you would know why we are what we are today.
