Well, expected na na oi. Swerte nlng kng naay usa ka bronze. Pasabot nga wa gyud ni improve. It even got worse. Mas mka daug pa cguro ta ug tong its...hehe

while athletes from other countries train for 4 yrs straight or more, ours train only for less than 2 yrs, if not months ra. dili pa na straight ky gatrabaho pa ug call center ky kuwang ang allowance gihatag sa Sports Comm...hehe

Since 1988 to 1996, we've won bronze or silver in boxing. after that wala na except sa demo sports lang. all in all, the Phils has only accumulated 9 (silver and bronze) medals since 1928 up to now. No gold so far pa gyud.

anyways, naay sport nga bsan unsaon pa dili gyud ta kadaug genetically-wise. Like basketball, asa man ka mangahoy anang mga height pareho sa Amerkano or Europeans? same story with swimming, volleyball and high jump. mostly knanglan ani ang height or reach. sadly, asians are usually handicapped for that matter.

Here's a list of what sports we could excel unta:

    Archery
    Badminton
    Baseball
    Boxing
    Kayak
    BMX
    Mountain Bike
    Diving
    Gymnastics
    Rowing
    Sailing
    Shooting
    Table Tennis
    Taekwondo
    ...and others

Despite 90 million people, RP medal-less in Beijing

MANILA, Philippines – The Associated Press took notice of the Philippines’ underachieving performance in the Beijing Olympics.

The country is one of the most populous in the world which will leave Beijing without a medal along with Bangladesh and Pakistan.

According to United Nations estimates and statistics provided by the Pakistani government, Pakistan is the sixth most populous in the world with 164.1 million people as of this month. Bangladesh follows at seventh with 158.6 million.

Based on the National Statistics Office, the Philippines has 90.4 million people by the middle of 2008 or 12th most by a nation.

And all three countries left the China Olympiad empty-handed.

Among the three, only Bangladesh is medal-less in its Olympic history. Pakistan has 10 overall with three gold medals, while the Philippines has nine overall but without a gold.

The top five most populous countries are China, India, the US, Indonesia and Brazil. All five won at least one gold medal in Beijing.

After Bangladesh and Pakistan, Nigeria, Russia and Japan complete the top 10. Russia and Japan also won gold medals in Beijing.

Nigeria, which previously won just one medal in its Olympic participation, had four in the China Games.

Mexico, 11th on the list of most populous nations just above the Philippines, won two golds in Beijing. – GMANews.TV
