Catch the country’s favorite indie music act Up Dharma Down and emerging band Yolanda Moon live this Friday, 4 p.m., at the Events Area of Cebu I.T. Park as Cebu celebrates the much-awaited grand launch of FamilyMart, one of the world’s largest convenient store chains.

Formed in 2004, Up Dharma Down is a Filipino indie band with superb musicality and flawless songwriting. Known for the chart-topping songs like “Pag-agos,” “Tadhana,” and “Oo” among many others, the band is composed of Armi Millare on vocals and keyboards, Carlos Tañada on lead guitars and synthesizers, Ean Mayor on drums and samplers, and Paul Yap on bass and synth. For the past decade, Up Dharma Down has carved a name for itself not just in the Philippines but also in abroad with BBC tagging them as the Manila band to most likely cross over to North American shores and Time Magazine considering the band’s music as “genre-defying.”

A fusion of trip hop, soul, electronic, post-rock and psychedelic music is today’s rising musicians Yolanda Moon. Formed in 2012, the band, led by singer/songwriter Cholo Hermosa, is composed of Miggy Concepcion on keyboard, Benjo Robles on drums, Harold Go on bass and Paolo Bermal on guitar, plus a cast of guest musicians. With songs “Leaving Soon,” “Smalltalk” and “Path,” Yolanda Moon was nominated for Emerging Bang of the Year in the 2014 Yahoo Celebrity Awards.
