It's time to catch all those criminals in those cities. After all, we need to get rid of the crimes on these supposed to be first- classed cities. The lowering of crime rate is the main concern of these chief executives, which I think could only encourage more businesses to flourish on these cities.
If that's the case, then we these executive officials are really getting their job done. I just hope they will not abuse the authority vested to them.
this is sad.
Lim, Duterte and Osmena's means of 'solving the problem of criminality' fails to take into account an aspect of social deviance that sociologists have been studying since time immemorial. rather than lay out the roots of criminality and social deviance, their unorthodox methods and oftentimes controversial actions and pronouncements delude us into thinking that an iron hand is the true solution of criminality.
unfortunately, an iron fist that aims to eradicate crime, more often than not, commits crimes itself. we get rid of the bad guys that are not 'with us' and replace it with a 'bad guy' that we deem as 'ours'. we displace a supposedly 'greater evil' with an apparently lesser version of it. we shut our eyes and ears to their appalling pronouncements praising murderers, because we want to believe that it is for the greater good...
and so with impunity 'our guys' go out abusing and killing people, effectively throwing mud at the laws that we deem sacred. with us allowing 'our guys' to do whatever they want to 'eliminate criminality', we set double standards at who can be excused for charges of human rights abuse and even murder. we spit on the very laws that we made to protect ourselves.
we are the ones who create and maintain criminals at our midst. we support them and cheer them as they go on destroying other people's lives. sure, we can say their lives were already destroyed anyway. but what a statement from a people who dares to say that there should be justice in the country.
we know how Lim, Duterte and Osmena work and the abuses that they can make when it comes to 'solving criminality'. but what does it make us that support such abuses?
