Default The Higgs Boson: Does this mean the Bible have failed?

July 4, 2012 is the day the universe changed. Everyone in the Scientific community got excited by the news of this latest discovery. Physicists at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) announced the discovery of the Higgs boson, the most important scientific discovery of the 21st century. Period.

The Higgs boson creates an invisible field that permeates throughout all of space. The fast particles, such as photons, barely interact with the Higgs field and don’t gain any mass. But particles that are much slower in their speed gain mass as they interact with the Higgs bosons, thus creating the atomic elements that make up stars and planets and you and me.

Discovery will change course of science - Gilroy Dispatch: Martin Cheek

To anyone unaware of how this particle works... here's a simple scenario:

Imagine your class of 50 students in a small room. And suddenly a major celebrity enters, all students flock at him/her asking for photograph and hugs/kisses, thereby creating a huge mass of humans conglomerated together. That's equivalent of one particle( celebrity) going through a field ( Classroom), the moment that particle enters, the surrounding particles are attached to it creating mass. That mass becomes what we call the Universe.

Now, is the explanation of how the Universe was created based on the Bible's teaching suddenly becomes null and void because of this scientific breakthrough?
There would be no God, No Big Bang theory, no Universes created by supreme being's body parts and etc...

    Your opinion?

Opinions on spirituality and faith have no place in the science forum. Please read the rules stickied above. Infractions handed.

Topics of this nature can still be discussed in OTHER sections of iStorya.net, but NOT the science section.

Sadly, rodsky is right. But detecting a boson whose behavior is consistent with the theorized Higgs boson doesn't in any way change people's faiths. Well, it shouldn't. Oh and the bible hasn't failed. It is by far the greatest bestseller of all time.
