Those who owns a SGT 7.0 P1000 or any android smartphone, hope you can help me with this.

I own the aforementioned device. Firmware is 2.3.3, Gingerbread. My problem in general is updating the tab.

For all I know, 2.3.6 is out but I do not know if my device is even allowed to update. I keep reading around about FOTA via Samsung Apps but I have no luck trying to update the tab there. I tried Kies and it recognizes my device but it says my firmware is up to date. If I look in the following link GT-P1000 (Galaxy Tab) | Samsung Updates there are firmwares posted there especially the 2.3.6 however I have no clue where to start from there. They say I need Odin but I can't find any reliable source or documentation that I can follow on. Also, I am not sure if the 2.3.6 firmwares posted there are compatible with my tab because of the difference in the regions.

I'm sorry if I look like a total noob here but I hope somebody points me in the right direction.

PS: I'm seriously thinking about dumping the tab now and replace it with the SGT 7+ since I am also looking forward to develop little apps in android for my own convenience

Why not bring it sa service center sa sm updating is free. I'm not sure if they will ask a copy of receipt but dalha lang sad.
