after reading this thread.. i'm sold.. I'll be throwing.. (to my cabinet) and dip into world of dSLR's from PnS. what do you think for Canon Digital Rebel XTi 400D or Nikon 80D? I hear that the Nikon 18-200mm VR is nice (though very expensive)... think think. think.. (I just paid off my credit card... so I should have some
    credit allowance for this)

i think the nikon d80 and the 18-200 is the perfect combination for someone moving towards dslr. there's this canon user who bought the d80 with this lens and never regreted having experienced a nikon system although he still has his canon gear he think this is the perfect all around lens and body to start a dslr shooting experience.

getting my very own d80 next week. can't wait! will let you know how the camera handles but then again we're looking at a winning model already.

check out this forum for his d80 experience..coming from a canon 5d user:

if you think you are not going to shoot sports... or do low light photography... then Get the Nikon D80... 18-200mm VR is a cheap lens.. not expensive...

    (2) 1Ds Mark II and (2) 1D Mark II N are my cameras of choice if budget isn't an issue... and (2) backup Nikon D2Xs... again.. if budget is NOT an issue...

I shoot low light and if possible no flash. So I'm sticking with Canon as my primary body.

there's only one guy i know who has both high end canon 1ds mkii, 1d makrkii, and nikon d2x, d200 in the philippines. one of the top advertising photographers in the country with high end digital backs also for the medium format. over 30 years of experience. these kind of equipment are expensive and not for starters or people shifting from ps to dslr. start with a d80 or a 400d and if your skill has outgrown your equipment then that's the time to upgrade.

Nikon D80 shoots well on low light too. Say ISO 1600? Distortion is not noticeable. Its a great dSLR I should say. Like I said if you want a cheaper D80 version, wait til december for the D60.

Actually there's nothing much of a difference between Nikon and Canon. Both can perform. In low light setting, Canon works mainly on aliasing, while Nikon is much sharper, but with NR Function on the Nikon D80, surely it will do as fine with the Canon say at ISO 3200.

I read it from a magazine T3, it said that Canon 400D Rebel Xti is priced at P48,500 not 45,000 as I stated. It has a 2.5 inch screen, 10.1 CMOS sensor, 9 point AF system and EOS Integrated cleaning System.
