you can use eclipse. it's a light weight IDE.
what do you mean 'print something'? if its the source code, it depends on your IDE. if its printing capability, java has cool feature in it. :)
im n embedded systems with networking for my early years. but been into distributed systems lately. at the time when utilities and ide's where still in its infancy, you do all stuff from scratch.
I like Java (almost 8yrs experience), C++ and C. Hardcore programming is the best!
