Actually, what we know as "TAMSI" are not humming birds but in reality are sunbirds or flower peckers. We do not have any humming bird here in the Philippines but we have a lot of sunbirds and flowerpeckers both of which are very tiny birds. They resemble a lot due to convergent evolution where two unrelated species develop certain physical forms as they occupy a similar niche in the ecosystem. Thats what happened to the hummingbirds which belong to Trochilidae and Sunbirds which belong to nectarinidae. The closer relative of the hummingbird here in the philippines is a swift or sayaw.
