Some Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) members, women among them, were recruited to supposedly attend a peace rally in Zamboanga City in exchange for P10,000 but to their surprise, they were given weapons when they arrived, according to fighters who were either caught or who surrendered to authorities.

    Or worse....

MNLF abducts Zamboanga chief of police

The chief of police of Zamboanga City has been abducted by retreating armed followers of MNLF founder Nur Misuari.

Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo was captured in Barangay Mampang by the MNLF elements, according to Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, logistics officer of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9).

Ocampo, however, did not immediately give additional details as to how and what time Malayo was abducted. Reports said the MNLF soldiers abducted the police officer in a seaside town and dragged Malayo to a waiting pumpboat. The rebels were reported to have fled towards a small island.

The incident happened amid claims by the military that they had already sealed every possible escape route available to the MNLF.

Like how in the fvck could this have happened?? It would be interesting to know the details of this.

I mean, you're the City's Chief of Police and there's an on-going war in your city. You are supposed to be on heightened state of alert in mind and body. You'd have blockades and checkpoints set-up around the city. You'd probably be carrying your weapon locked-and-loaded and have a couple of able-bodied cops with M4 rifles with you as close-ins at all times because you are a potential target.

I can probably understand if some lower ranked cops were abducted coz they're the front liners. But to abduct the top boss himself??

Unless he was taken from behind by surprise... Even that raises a whole new set of questions in itself.
