must be intelligent,open-minded n God fearing..most of r politician karn are kurakut......they worhip money n doenst thing for the future to come...
have brains and heart and experience in public service.. not just fame

the elective posts have basic qualifications of age, residence, must have been a registered voter for some years, and just that... nothing says about the qualifications such that they must have knowledge on laws and policy making.. i dunno why there is so much clamor for politicians who come from the entertainment or sports industry.. maybe it's just because for the large population of voters, they are so much into popularity rather than efficiency and capability and knowledge...

Aside from good educational background INTEGRITY is very important qualification/attributes a public servant should be.
INTEGRITY means doing right when nobody is watching.
