honestly, i think having this Filipino language is funny. marquee's right. it's plain ol' tagalog with a twist.

but does it really matter? almost everything that matters in this country is in American/British english anyway.

.........hahahaha, good point there. In Manila they are speaking the same language but why are they not united? There are some a-holes that still want FPJ to be president or should i say his spouse??

not one dialect to be considered as sole national language and rule over others, but give all dialects equal national standing and respect each uniqueness. pushing cebuano/bisaya as "the" national language is just a repetition of the mistake the tagalogs are doing, by imposing their dialect to other linguistic groups. respect first for each other first before we can achieve unity in this sense. to achieve it, the official tagalog linguistic hegemony must be dismantled first, like the official medium of instruction in schools and official communication in local government offices. nevermind their clout in the media coz there's nothing sensible we can do about it.

according to my teacher, tagalog is a weak language. there are too many repetitions in the syllables. the repetition is a sign that a language is weak. although how it is made weak by this i cannot begin to understand. i don't know if u have heard of this but imagine this scenario.

two men on their way to the elevator. the other one a foreigner and the other one a filipino.
elevator door opens. both men steps inside. the elevator operator was a filipino.

    operator: bababa ba?
    filipino: bababa.
foreigner: (confused) how do u understand each other when all you're saying is ba ba ba..?

i don't know about u but i found that really funny.

Default National Language: Tagalog Or Bisaya

i've never appreciated tagalog as the national language..
i mean, if national language is to promote unity, then why the he*k do we have to go through elementary, highschool and (damn) even college learning it? how about those who are uneducated and are not Tagalogs?? how will they learn? shouldn't be national language something that is innate? something that can be understood by a lot, with our without all the hassles of educatioN i mean, education is okay but geez, to have to go through all my years of studying with a filipino subject every sem.. arrgghh..
and check this out, how come most of the Tagalogs would mock Bisayans (who mastered the national language all their lives) when they speak the national language (just because it is not properly said and because we have this certain Bisayan accent).. and even in gag shows, Bisaya is being mocked. i can't see the unity there.

This is not a hate thread sa mga tagalog ha. it's just an observation.

OT: marquee, m doin great! miss you guys there! mustamos?
