    Default CBCP: Weak without SIN?

Since the death of Cardinal Sin, the CBCP has sought to find the next best moral shepherd to fill-in a large space in the group. With its recent stand on the ZTE-NBN anomaly and not calling for the resignation of GMA, do you think that the CBCP is weak without Cardinal Sin in terms of solidifying its decisions and making its presence felt?

[color=navy]Personally, I find priests on TV these days to be glory-mongers particularly those in Manila, some of them "Jaime Cardinal Sin"-wannabes who appear not to be content with their pulpit of their own parishes and the spiritual lives of their own flock but want to reach national-level via in front of the cameras.

In fact, it is not only through this that the Philippine Catholic Church and its priests receive media attention. Everyone remember Father Jose Belcina, Father Ben Ejares, Msgr. Constantino Diotay and his assistant Rev. Fr. Domingo “Sunday” Tapi, and many many others nationwide and worldwide-- men of the cloth who were accused of using their positions and influences in actions of questionably low morals.

They without "sin" should cast the first stone eh? What I say about the CBCP's calls for truth and fight against corruption and evil is that they better clean their own house first before meddling into others.

Yes. very weak... it not only shows that they are weak... but it also shows that they are very much divided.

If there will be people power this time around... We shouldnt rely on the church for guidance anymore.

I don't think the Church is weak. They just want to maintain their credibility.

I think so because, every time they lead the people to stand up for morality, another immoral leader comes along and this has been proven, time and again. And technically they can't do anything about it but protest and protest and people DO GET TIRED and when they do, they don't care anymore.

The Catholic Church does not hold moral authority over the State. They should "ideally" be apolitical.

if the church says using condom and artificial birth control is immoral, that does not mean the state should stop the condom business and birth control pill industry.

if the church says gambling is immoral, that doesn't mean the state has to stop lotto, licensed 5-cock derbies, horse-racing, and the casinos.

if the church says marriage annulment & divorce is immoral, that doesn't mean the state has to stop issuing annulment cases and not pondering on the possibility of a divorce law.

now get this: if the church says involving itself in politics is a right, then the state should cancel their "tax exempt" status...hehe

Naay mga Chrstian Churches bisan naa na Tax Exemp mo bayad man gihapon ug Tax .... ang Roman Catholic nga dako kaau income dili mo bayad kay naay Tax Exempt.

Issuing Statement such as Immoral is not Enough for a Person to become a Moral Person ... dako kaay kulang ang Roman Catholicism sa Spirituality sa ilaha mga membro mao nag Tsanami ang Immorality sa Pililipinas.

no I dont think they're weak,

I think with or without SIN, the cbcp org holds it's own reservations when deciding not to call for GMA's resignation,
This time I think they are in the "watch & observe" state, it would be prejudicial on their part to call for resignation, at this point.

I think they did the right thing....
I think mas daku ang damage sa Pilipinas( in general ) kun panaugon nila si gloria at this time (when our economy is doing well), than letting the righteous activists go along with their plan of new government. Magstart napud ta ani sa sinugdanan...
