how to setup personal studio at home?

Hi guys! Im an amateur photographer and i'd like to finally make my own studio at home. (my first project for this year!) i have limited space so i can't go all out with the equipment. can someone help me out on where to start? i have no idea yet where to buy good YET affordable stuff. wat do i need? are two lights enough? do i really need an umbrella? wala pa ko ka finalize how much im willing to spend on this setup. maybe di siguro mulapas 10k. is that possible? i want to make good photos nga pwede na pang sideline. hehe any help is appreciated! thanks and happy new year to all!

there are cheap strobe units sold at Seven Arts in Colon, from what I hear it costs about 6 to 7k per set, 2 strobes, lightstands and an umbrella. what type of photography would you want to do?

is there anything else you can recommend nga i can be happy with for a longer time? mao ba nang steady na lights na imo pasabot? i think i saw one istoryan selling his two lights at 8k. steady daw to sya. masmau diay na kung variable? sori daghan kau ko questions. m a newbie when it comes to photog equipment. there's so much to learn pa!

10k budget na set-up would be really limited .flash meter alone would cost you 8-16k.

fairyfriend: to answer your questions:

1. there are a lot of good studio lights that have variable f-stops. brands like alienbees, falconeyes, etc. you just have to do your own research regarding what model may suit you need

2. no. dili na sya steady lights. there are flashes. however, the brands i mentioned above may have modelling lights that may help.

3. yes. mas maayo na ang variable ang f-stop for different situations and different effects.

I also agree with tommy na 10k is really a limited budget. if you want to study lighting, a flash meter is a must to take out the guessing game and a more efficient work flow.

geting those two level strobs is a waste of money if u ask me.

why not get my studio lights setup for around 15k you get two STEPLESS stroblights with two stands, brounce umbrela, softbox, carry bags, etc. great bang for the buck...no need to change them anymore.

@pnoize2k4: i went to seven arts na. but wala na sila atong tag 6-7k. ang naa kay 18k (FALCON EYES) and it includes the ff:
1 umbrella reflector
1 softbox
1 bag
2 studio flash
2 light stand
2 flash remote controlled transmeter
2 flash cord
2 studio flash cord (dunno if nasayop ko copy sa lista kay binalik na man ang flash cord...)
4 philips bulb 60 watts (is this enough?)

How would like some helping in learning how to use your new lighting gear? I'm currently holding a study group on studio lighting. It started last Sunday but you can still join if you're.
