Both are ok, but I think myDSL has more downtimes-- and their DNS servers are bad, some sites cannot be accessed.
OT: Korek!!!
How much is the average download speed for globe's 2mb/s package.
Have anyone tried this package? need Some feedbacks.
and also the other packages like the 364kb/s and the 768kb/s package?
Whats their average download speed.
Thanks all. I inquired at Globe's Bus Center in Ayala and they told me that there is no CIR or "Committed Information Rate" for Residential packages. They also give me a brochure for the Residential Package with the following info.:
PACKAGE EXPRESS UNLIMITED EXPLORE SILVER EXPLORE GOLD
SPEED Download up to 384kbps Download up to 768kbps Download upto 2MB
Upload upto 128kbps Upload upto 384kbps Upload upto 512kbps
PRICE Php1,495/month Unlimited Php1,995/month Unlimited Php2,995/month
Based on the above, they have very attractive packages. But the question is, will this also work in reality? I'll find out when they connect my Broadband application. Thanks again, Sirs.
I was given a 995/month on the express unlimited which was offered to me via phone call, lock contract for a year. So far the offer is good.
on the issue of downtimes and speed:
Downtime is a normal occurence, just because you weren't able to enter a specific site doesn't necessarily mean the isp is bad. Take note that downtimes on specific site can be attributed to many a factor.
PLDT has an expensive landline and better speed.
GLOBE has a cheaper landline cost and good speed.
So it boils down to what telephone line you had. if money is not an issue go for pldt, whatever choices you decide to take a dsl speed is enough for your download need.
Correction Please:
PLDT has old landline cables.... Since when did PLDT change their phone cables... Yup it was fast before... but with a lot of subscribers ni hinay na....
Globe has newer landline cables.... Globe just installed new cables in Guadalupe... So its broadband ready
So FRESH imo or OLD... Kamo pili....
i am using globe right now. im under the explore silver na plan. so far, my download speed is constant at 70 kbps. and wala pa ko ka-experience ug downtime. i am living at d. jakosalem.
UCAV has a good point, what the use of a "fast isp" when there would be so many subscribers using the connection at a certain time.. ultimately the speed would be sacrificed.
Wireless the better
PLDT is fast before... not now.. GLOBE dont think gud either..
pila inyo max download speed using either globe or pldt?
http, ftp, torrent or whatever type od download.....
hellow dudoyjoie, et al.
may I know what is the modem for the Explore Silver package (768kbps)
currently 384kbps lang ako speed pero 1995 ako ginabayaran - old account na ni - ni adto ko sa globe gahapon then ingon nila they have to upgrade my modem na 330speed touch - para ma adjust ako speed to 768 of course may downtime of 24 hrs - so wag na lang muna - kay basin madaot lang ako net -
about the 384kbps na speed sa globe - i have no problems for a year - very satisfied ko - ol games like ragnarok is good in globe - DL speed is always maxed out at 384 - in fact i'm not in a hurry to upgrade my speed from 384 to 768. just wanted to make sure na swabe gihapon ako net pag nag upgrade ko to 768.
about their tech support - it is the best - na guba ako net ato last good friday - ni tawag ko sa tech support - less than 1 hr naayos na :-D kung naa man downtime - less than 2 hrs lang and it happens only about 1 - 2 times a year - i live in pasig btw.
btw... GLBB ko karon. flawless... swabe jud.bati ang mydsl dli masabtan mo hinay lang kalit... so GLBB na!..... inreaching real life in real time. :police:
You know what guys... PLDT is on analog connection while Globe is on Digital! Since glode is digital, there is no need to convert the data, thus making their process speed more faster than PLDT. PLDT is on analog because they old.

I'm currently subscribed at 384kbps, plan 995
heya, im a pldt personal plan subsriber, i guess the globe equivalent would be that silver thinggy. Anyhow, i pay 2500php per month for my indernet connection along with the additional 800php for the landline, so roughly i pay 3200 per month. PLDT seems to be currently tweaking their grid cause the speeds go up and down at the moment, currently my DL speed doesn't break the 70kBs mark... but last week it was steady on 140kBs. Furthermore PLDT has some phenomenon called "w00tspeed days" where due to unknown curcumstances, the download speeds jump to 250kBs. This usually happens only for some days... but in those days you'll sure run out of stuff to download. But at the moment... like i said, the pldt speeds suck
PLDT is putting a new service line sa DSL nila, kay one of my friend who keeps getting disconnected was given a 2 weeks free sa ilang "fast server daw" ilang 768k nga line could easily reach 150~180kb/s in download speed.. mag ka boang write ang HD xD
also about this globe vs pldt. mka igon ko bro. 2 factors ragyud..
both are PERFECTLY equal BUT
depends on YOUR area, and on which node ka gi connect nila
usahay mo abot og 1mpbs for some reason...lami!!!!
what about ug pang internet cafe use? currently connected ko sa pldt with 768kbps connection for 27 computers, enough(i know naa problema ang line sa PLDT like hinay and sometimes DC) na ba incase all the computers magdungan play online games?
Sakto gyud. Unya # of dsl subscribers from the same broadband company sa inyo area.

@werty
Flyff, Guildwars, etc. wont each much of your bandwidth(though dependent from many factors) for these games support NAT but Gunz, hmmmmm, just croos your fingers and pray your connection wont freeze down. This game knows nothing about NAT, so output is it will eat not only the whole bandwidth but also the router, lol.Quote:

Sad to say bro... And even the Maeit company cant fix it yet. Mao maghulat nalang ta ani, dala ampo nga mogilok ang otok sa ilang mga programmers to find ways to solve the problem which affects most users of it in this world. :-oQuote:

Globelines Explore Gold :D (I can reach 200kB/s). Akong myDSL Pro (I have yet to reach speeds over 100kB/s unya sige pa gyud putol putol - ako nang ipa-disconnect karong December 1).
mga dudes, per experience ni nko ha. PLDT is bati ug support, client mi sa PLDT but kung naa problem ma encounter ang network nila kay dili sila pahibaw namo, so asta among operations ma down pod. as in worst jud ang support sa PLDT. I know know lang sa GLOBE kay ongoing pa among migration from PLDT to GLOBE.
so far wala pako mag problema sa akong DSL sa PLDT.. basin area to area basis rasad ilang problems
Quote:

nagtawag ko sa pldt dis pm, reason nila sa ils intermitent lag is they are updating their lines daw para pakusgan na nila ila speed. hadlok na cguro sa pagsulod dri sa globe, im from davao btw.
latest report hehehehe... Im using PLDT myDSL plan 999. ka apply palang nako noon march 1, 2006. tinood na mga bai na permi makalit og disconnect, especially pag naka stambay ka lang, like no activity ma kalit na disconnect.. its true too na bati ang DNS nila . may mga site na dili ma open. about sa customer service ok naman ,, mutubag naman dial this 172375 ..... im here in mabolo (near ZArroza international hotel) connection speed is 20KB to 45KB .. sometimes lang pag suwerte maka 50KB plus..
wala gyd koy problema sa akong connection, never had disconnection problems. highest uptime nako is about 65+ hours ( then restart sa PC one in a while ) or grabi lang gyud ko ka swerte sa akong connection...
ASA man dapit Earl emong location.. Cguro maayo gyud imong location.. and suwerte ka na tawhana hehehe or kamag anak ka cguro ni gretchen barreto hehehe jokesQuote:

i have reviewed all the configurations of my mozilla and IE but nothing seems to be wrong.
i have previously read that some sites cannot be accessed using PLDT myDSL because of their DNS... how true is this?

its not only you who are having problems accessing internet sites, naa kuno problema sa ilang DNS, maypa tawagan nimo ilang customer service para kabalo sila...katong old subscribers wala problema..
tried pldt, our email client got messed up. ang sad part kay ila tech support sa email i refer pa ka sa infocom kay sila handle sa smtp og pop settings nila, somehow per their explanation naa sila gikuha na third party spam control mao to amo mga emails sa company got bounced or most of the time dili jud me ka send og receive emails using their pop and smtp settings.
bati pod sila support mao balhin mi mozcom their line is ok we have 384 upgraded to 512 same monthly den we average 240kbs no complains
haayy.... mao ba... their costumer service has delayed responses... sometimes dugay kaayo mutubag sa fone...
:-( i better switch to Globe nalang...
anyway ill try calling tomorrow...
anyone who has tried Bayantel? i have heard from a friend okay daw kaayo ang Bayantel....
i think area basis ra ang problem, daghan ko kaila wala ra mag problema gyud sa ilang internet connection. yesterday a friend of mine who uses 1.5mbps from pldt got an email nga nag upgrade daw sila sa ilang entire network si expected gyud daw ang downtime ug ang disconnections. so far akong connection diri walay problema
mao ba? how about those sites nga dili ma access? like www.ultimate-guitar.com and others....? maka access sila? new users na sila sa PLDT myDSL or sauna ra?Quote:

P-Chan pila diay imong average download speed in Kb/s
Download speed is dependent on the site where you get file.Â* I'm a globelines subscriber of 384kbps unlimited.
I test my download from time to time by manually downloading the anti-virus update of my computer.Â* here is the result.
to all people who are interested in Globe broadband
here's just a preview of their service

to bad we cant clearly see the pic, next time just place the URL on where you uploaded it
hello, i am a newbie here..your posts are really educating to me kc i have to transfer there in cebu this middle of april ( i am here in manila presently) and i have no idea of what to get for my ISP.I am working at home and needed a good advise of ISP's kc i am working online. My place is in banawa and pldt could only provide me with microbiz ( but i decided to get lower rate) so i tried globe but anxious of their service, howver when i read the posts i am bit contented but i'll try it then.I am planning to get globeline's 1995 plan.
just curious..how long would it take for me to hook with globe?landline and internet.Thanks..
@ j_cainglet
just recently hook up with globe, we have some glitches it took us almost two weeks to get hook up, the way i see it is that there problem is with their centrailzed techsupport all in manila. you cannot ask the technician simple problems for immediate resolutions like gateway or firewall problems your queries need to passed through their dispatch which is based in manila and manila will have to dispatch a particular technician to your place. this process usually will further your downtime like ours we called monday but the technician came in thursday na.
so far the speed is ok. if you need to contact an account manager try karen 09176888618 mention me Ricky Magallon she was the one i bugged most of the time to get us operating smoothly.
@j_cainglet: got my globelines broadband in 3 days from the filing of forms to the turn over and acceptance of the link. I applied through an agent. If you go through the business center of globe, for sure, it would take weeks or worse months before you get a response.
I'll refer you to my agent if you wany. just pm me.
Pwede kaayo  . That's what I did when I transferred from PLDT myDSL (which gave me a lot of headaches) to Globe Broadband 8-)Quote:

unsa'y pasabot anang i-"ping" nimo ???
it has been found that it has taken on several distinct meanings. One is that Ping is actually an acronym for the words 'Packet INternet Groper'.Quote:
